A brake actuator (') includes a casing (), an electric motor for providing a driving torque, a cam disc () rotatably mounted to the casing () and operatively coupled to the electric motor, and a push rod () received in the casing (), and configured to reciprocate in a longitudinal direction () between a retracted position () and an extended position (). The push rod () and the cam disc () are operatively coupled such that a rotational movement of the cam disc () causes a linear movement of the push rod. A guiding member (), in particular a bushing, is mounted to the casing (), wherein the guiding member () guides the movement of the push rod () in the longitudinal direction ().

Brake actuator, in particular electromechanical brake actuator of a commercial vehicle

An electromechanical brake actuator () for a brake has a cam disc () and a brake plunger () for actuating a brake lever (). The cam disc () and the brake plunger () have contact surfaces in contact with one another for directly transmitting a drive torque. The contact surface of the cam disc () extends at a distance r about the pivot point D, which is defined as a function r(φ) with a change rate r'(φ) and depends on the angular position φ of the cam disc (). The contact surface is configured to effect non-linear transmission between the drive torque of the cam disc () and the force transmitted to the brake plunger ().

A method for adjusting the clearance of an electromechanical brake, in particular of a utility vehicle brake, involves the following steps: activating a clearance test cycle for the brake, applying at least one brake lining of the brake in the direction of a brake disc and determining a contact position in which the brake lining enters into contact with the brake disc when application occurs, determining the clearance as well the degree of wear of the lining on the basis of the determined contact position, calculating the clearance which is necessary for the brake and a necessary contact position of the brake lining and brake disc in accordance with the degree of wear of the lining using predefined parameters. The method is performed by a suitable brake and a control device.

Method for adjusting the clearance of an electromechanical brake, brake, and control device

A foot brake valve (′) of a pneumatic brake system in a motor vehicle has an installation plate (′), on which a brake pedal () is pivotably mounted and to which a housing (′) of a control unit () is fastened. A spring-loaded plunger piston () in actuating contact with the brake pedal () is guided axially movably in an annular collar () projecting upward out of the installation plate (′). For fastening the housing (′) of the control unit () to the installation plate (′), the housing (′) has an intermediate flange () which is screw-connected to the main part of the housing (′) and has the annular collar (). The intermediate flange () is coaxially rotatably about a vertical central axis (), and is connectable in non-positively locking fashion to the installation plate (′) via a releasable clamping connection ().

Foot brake valve of an air brake system

A method for determining a clearance of an electromechanical brake involves the following steps: Activating a clearance determination cycle for the brake, moving an electromechanical brake actuator by a drive motor into a first end position, moving the electromechanical brake actuator via the drive motor toward a second end position, continuously determining a rotor position and/or a motor current of the drive motor during the movement of the brake actuator toward the second end position, determining a contact position at which the brake pad comes into contact with the brake disc, on the basis of the rotor position and/or of the motor current, and determining a clearance and/or a degree of pad wear on the basis of the determined contact position. A suitable electomechanical brake and a respective control unit carry out the method.

Method for determining a clearance of an electromechanical brake, brake, and control unit

A relay valve () for a pneumatic valve unit (), for example for a braking system of a utility vehicle, has a first assembly component () and a second assembly component (). A hollow cylindrical guide portion () of a piston () of the relay valve () is received, in an axially guided manner, in the first assembly component (). The second assembly component () includes additional valve components and the venting region of the relay valve (). At least the first assembly component () and the second assembly component (), when assembled, form a preassembly unit () first assembly component () and are joined by a bayonet connection (). The preassembly unit () is inserted into a housing () of the valve unit (), The interior of the housing is delimited by a cup-shaped inner wall (), and the preassembled unit is fastened therein.

A control valve () for applying a spring-loaded brake pressure (p) to spring-loaded parts of a rear-axle wheel brake is provided. The control valve () is activatable pneumatically via a second control input () with a parking-brake control pressure (p). The parking-brake control pressure (p) can act in such a manner on a control mechanism () arranged in a valve housing () of the control valve () that a spring-loaded brake pressure (p) arises at a control output () of the control valve () as a function of the parking-brake control pressure (p) for bringing about a parking-brake braking specification with the spring-loaded parts of the rear-axle wheel brakes. The control valve () has a first control connection () connectable to an adjustable first control chamber (), which is operatively connected to the control mechanism ().

An electromechanical brake actuator () includes a housing (), a first housing part () configured as a housing flange for attaching the electromechanical brake actuator () to a disc brake (), a second housing part () for receiving a drive (), a third housing part () arranged between the first housing part () and the second housing part () and connected to the first housing part () and the second housing part (), a motor (), a gearbox (), and a tappet () or a spindle for actuating a disc brake (). The housing () is an aluminum die-cast formed part. The first housing part () and the second housing part () have planar contact surfaces () configured to receive plates of a two-plate die-casting machine during the forming process of the housing ().

Electromechanical brake actuator for disc brakes

A braking system for a vehicle, particularly a commercial vehicle, includes an operating brake device for providing an operating brake function for braking the vehicle, and a parking brake device for providing a parking brake function independently of the operating brake system. If one of the two braking devices partially or completely fails, the vehicle can be braked automatically by means of the other braking device.

Fault-tolerant vehicle brake system

A pneumatic wheel brake for a vehicle includes a brake lever operable by a compressed air cylinder, and a brake application device operable by the lever. Employing the brake application device, a first brake element can be pressed against a second when the lever is operated. The wheel brake also includes an actuating device, which can be motor driven, which force can be applied to parts of the brake application device, at least when the lever is not operated, to press the first brake element against the second. The wheel brake also has a spring accumulator element arranged outside the compressed air cylinder. Force can be applied to the spring accumulator element by the actuating device; and force can be applied to parts of the brake application device by the spring accumulator element, at least when the lever is not operated. Thereby, the first brake element can be pressed against the second.

Pneumatic wheel brake for a vehicle

A brake includes a brake shoe, an actuating element for pressing the brake shoe against a brake disc, and at least one lever disposed such that it increases the braking force applied by the brake shoe to the brake disc by deflecting a tangential force acting on the brake shoe during braking. The actuating element comprises at least one brake disc side part, an actuator side part, and a coupling part disposed between the brake disc side part and the actuator side part, wherein the coupling part can be pivoted relative to the brake disc side part and/or the actuator side part.

Brake

A brake system for a vehicle includes brake cylinders operated by pressurized fluid for actuation of brakes by means of pressurized fluid on at least one first axle of the vehicle. The brakes on at least one other, second, axle can be actuated exclusively electromechanically in response to an electrical braking request signal. The pressure of the pressurized fluid can be modulated indirectly or directly and the electrical braking request signal can be generated indirectly or directly in response to actuation of a brake pedal of a brake pedal device. A service brake function is provided by means of hybrid use of the brakes on the first axle(s) together with the brakes on the second axle(s). The brake cylinders operated by pressurized fluid are pneumatically operated brake cylinders. The pressure modulated by the brake pedal device is a pneumatic pressure, and the pressurized fluid is compressed air.

The invention relates to an actuation device for a brake (), for applying an output force (F) to means () which generate braking force, depending on an input parameter (F), comprising a lever () and a force generator () which brings a force (F) to bear on the lever () at an effective angle (&#x3b1;), relative to the longitudinal axis of the lever (). Furthermore, an alternative actuating device for a brake is given, which permits a significant reduction of the power and energy requirements relative to direct-acting actuating devices. The above is achieved by means of a low-friction actuation characteristic as a result of the construction features of the actuating device and/or the selection of materials used. A preferred field of application is in electrically-driven braking systems on commercial vehicles.
