A device for absorbing side forces during a side impact of a motor vehicle has a reinforcing structure () with a transversely extending reinforcing beam (). An end () of the reinforcing beam () is mounted in a bracket () that is fixed to the vehicle. A profile part () is at the end () of the reinforcing beam () and supports the reinforcing beam (). The profile part () is connected firmly to the bracket () that is fixed to the vehicle thereby providing improved side impact protection and enhanced safety for vehicle occupants.

Device for absorbing side forces

For the reinforcement of a body structure of a motor vehicle which extends adjacent to a front side door of the vehicle, a hollow member structure formed by channel reinforcements is arranged in the body structure. The hollow member structure extends approximately in a horizontal plane from the B pillar into a rear region of the body structure. The channel reinforcements are intended to absorb, in a stable fashion, the forces which enter into the side part via the door in the event of a frontal crash.

A vibration damper for a shock absorber strut is described which is arranged on a piston rod above the elastic body-side bearing facing away from the vehicle wheel. The damper comprises a mass element which is connected with a carrier plate, in which case the element is fastened on a centric pot element by way of radially extending elastic arms, the pot element being held on the free end of the piston rod above the elastic bearing.
