The invention relates to an active substance-containing plaster for the controlled administration of active substances to the skin, which has a back and a skin side, with a back layer, an active substance reservoir divided substantially perpendicularly to the skin contact surface of the plaster and having one or more active substances, a contact adhesive device on the skin side and optionally a cover layer detachable prior to the application of the plaster, whereas at least one active substance reservoir part (12) is detachable from the skin, while leaving behind one or more active substance reservoir parts (13) on the skin. For this object there is provided that the part of the active substance reservoir remaining on the skin is having a better adhesion to the skin than to the back layer (11).

A drying apparatus for sheets of material. The apparatus includes a drying chamber through which a sheet of material which is to be dried is conveyed, and in which the sheet of material is contacted by flowing drying gas. The apparatus also includes a feed line for supplying drying gas to the apparatus, a heater for heating the drying gas, and a withdrawal line for withdrawing the drying gas from the apparatus. The drying chamber includes cup-shaped and rounded-off wall elements which are easily detachably connected to one another. The wall elements have a smooth inner surface. A jacket is disposed around the drying chamber. An intermediate space is defined between the inner surface of the jacket and the outer surface of the wall elements of the drying chamber. Drying gas is introduced through the feed line into the intermediate space. After this drying gas has been heated in the heater, it flows through the drying chamber. A pressure gradient is maintained between the intermediate space, the drying space, and the atmosphere, with the pressure being lowest in said drying chamber means. The hot drying gas in the drying chamber gives off at least some of its heat to the drying gas in the intermediate space. The used drying gas leaves the drying chamber via the withdrawal line.

Sheet material is formed by providing a homogeneous fluid solution of a soluble protein derivative and a synthetic organic polymer in a solvent. Film is formed from the homogeneous fluid solution and the solvent is removed from the film to form the sheet material which is moisture vapor permeable. When the sheet material includes an adhesive, the adhesive is coated as a fluid solution in a solvent on one side of the sheet material.

A hot carrier gas stream laden with solvent vapors from an evaporation space is compressed, cooled, and expanded with production of work for condensing and separating the solvent. The carrier gas stream lean in solvent vapors is conducted back into the evaporation space after being reheated. The whole of the work arising on expansion is transferred in direct mechanical coupling to one of two or more compression stages for compression of the carrier gas stream laden with solvent vapors. An apparatus for practicing the process is also disclosed.
