A printed circuit board provided with an attachment which surrounds surface contacts of the printed circuit board that are to be contacted by a printed circuit board connector that covers the portion of the printed circuit board and edges of the printed circuit board around the surface contacts and includes recesses corresponding to the surface contacts assuring proper connection with contacts of a printed circuit board connector.

A printed circuit board zero insertion force connector incorporating an actuating member, by which the printed circuit board zero insertion force connector can be moved from an assembly position permitting insertion or removal of a printed circuit board into a connecting position properly contacting the printed circuit board and/or vice versa, is made by means of an element which simultaneously serves to lock the printed circuit board to the arrangement containing the printed circuit board zero insertion force connector or to remove it therefrom.

The PCB zero-insertion-force connector has a housing and two connector halves inside the housing. The connector halves can be swiveled toward each other and away from each other. In a mounting position, in which they are swiveled away from each other, the connector halves allow the insertion of a PCB which is to be brought connected with the PCB upon which the housing is mounted. In a connecting position, the connector halves are swiveled toward each other. The connector halves of the PCB zero-insertion-force connector are formed of a plurality of connector-half modules which are arranged in series alongside one another.

The cuboid housing of the printed circuit board coupler is made from conducting material and it can be soldered directly to the printed circuit board. An inner conductor connection member is inserted into and insulated from the housing. The insulation is provided by a plastics part which is partially extrusion-coated on the inner conductor connection member at a region where connecting elements angle off from a plug-in element. The printed circuit board coupler can thus be soldered with the housing itself and with bends of the inner conductor connection member in a horizontal or vertical position on the printed circuit board by surface mounting.
