A bipolar plate seal assembly for a fuel cell is provided. The bipolar plate seal assembly includes: a bipolar plate having a flow field for a reactant medium on at least one of its main sides, and a supply area arranged adjacent to the flow field, in which supply ports for feeding and discharging the reactant medium and optionally for feeding and discharging a coolant are arranged; and at least one seal assembly having an electrically insulating layer covering at least one or more sections of the supply area of the bipolar plate and having recesses that correspond to the supply ports of the bipolar plate, and for each recess, a seal circumferential thereto.

The invention relates to a fuel cell stack, a fuel cell system, and a vehicle having such a fuel cell system. The fuel cell stack comprises a stack of membrane electrode assemblies and bipolar plates arranged in alternation between two end plates and comprises main supply channels for supplying and discharging operating media for the fuel cell stack which main supply channels extend through the stack in the stacking direction of the stack. It is provided that means for retaining particles be provided in at least one of the main supply channels.

A method for operating a fuel cell device, the fuel cell device having a fuel cell, and a motor vehicle having a drive system and the fuel cell device are disclosed. In order to avoid energy which has been made available by the fuel cell device being used merely to heat the fuel cell and therefore not being available for a consumer, there is provision according to the invention that the energy to be stored is limited as a function of the ambient temperature and the fuel cell device has for this purpose an ambient temperature-determining unit and a charge limiter which is connected to the ambient temperature-determining unit in a control signal-transmitting fashion.
