Generally described, one or more aspects of the present application correspond to techniques for dynamic management of the network used for data transfer between a connected vehicle and a remote computing system. For example, during navigation a connected vehicle may switch between connections to a number of different networks, and the pricing of these networks may be periodically recalculated based on current network load. The disclosed techniques can select from among available networks to dynamically optimize the cost of data transfer, even as a vehicle navigates through different networks and as network pricing is changed.

Connected vehicle bandwidth-based network selection

Generally described, one or more aspects of the present application correspond to techniques for reduced user involvement in Bluetooth pairing between computing devices. For example, a vehicle computing device and a mobile electronic device may execute applications registered with a user account. At least in response to a user command and the vehicle computing device and the mobile electronic device being in proximity with each other, the described techniques can exchange information between the vehicle computing device and mobile electronic device via one or more intermediary servers connected to a network to establish a Bluetooth connection.

Methods and apparatus for providing wireless communications using subframe partitioning are disclosed. Two or more base stations may be allocated subframes in a radio frame. Methods and apparatus for subframe interlacing in heterogeneous networks

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to handoff (e.g., idle mode handoff or other types of handoff) for a user terminal. In some aspects, a user terminal (UT) may request idle mode handoff information from a ground network (GN). Idle mode handoff information may include, for example, start times for a set of satellites, whereby each particular start time indicates when the UT may handoff to the corresponding satellite. The UT may send the request for idle mode handoff information to the GN when the UT has a defined number of valid entries (e.g., one unexpired entry) remaining in an idle mode handoff table. In some aspects, the idle UT may send the request for idle mode handoff information to the GN based on a time associated with a particular entry in an idle mode handoff table or based on a time of validity of an idle mode handoff table.

Handoff for satellite communication

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to handoff of a user terminal in communication with a satellite network portal through a satellite. In some aspects, a satellite network portal and a user terminal use a satellite handoff information to determine when to handoff the user terminal from one cell to another and/or from one satellite to another. In some aspects, a user terminal sends capability information, location information, or other information to a satellite network portal whereby, based on this information, the satellite network portal generates the satellite handoff information and/or selects a handoff procedure for the user terminal. In some aspects, handoff of a user terminal to a different satellite involves the user terminal conducting satellite signal measurements and sending a measurement message to the satellite network portal. In some aspects, the satellite network portal generates new satellite handoff information as a result of receiving a measurement message.

Methods, systems, and devices are provided for signaling alignment for multicarrier systems that may utilize one or more flexible bandwidth carriers. Tools and techniques are provided that may help ensure signaling alignment with respect to feedback messages, such as ACK/NACK messages, in multicarrier systems that may utilize one or more flexible bandwidth carriers and/or systems that may utilize multiple different flexible bandwidth carriers. Some methods may include identifying timing for one or more subframes that carry one or more feedback messages for a first cell; and/or adjusting a timing for one or more subframes that carry one or more feedback messages for a second cell to align with the one or more subframes that carry the one or more feedback messages for the first cell. The first cell and/or the second cell may include at least one of the one or more flexible bandwidth carriers.

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to providing dynamic assignment of home agent and home address in wireless communications, such that a mobile node away from home may receive local access services from a visited network. In an embodiment, a mobile node accesses a visited network. The visited network authenticates the mobile node with its home network. The visited network then assigns a visited home agent and a home address for the mobile node. The mobile node subsequently performs secure binding with the visitor home agent. The mobile node proceeds with communications using the visitor home agent and home address.

Dynamic assignment of home agent and home address in wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices are provided that may enable wireless communications systems that utilize flexible bandwidths to transmit at the same or similar rates as wireless communications systems that utilize normal bandwidths. Some embodiments identify a target rate for a broadcast channel of a first bandwidth carrier system and transmit broadcast information utilizing the target rate. The target rate is higher than a scaled rate that results from scaling the rate for a broadcast channel of a second bandwidth carrier system by a bandwidth scaling factor. The first and second bandwidth carrier systems may be flexible and normal bandwidth carrier systems, respectively. To compensate for the bandwidth scaling and effectively maintain the rate at which information is transmitted in normal bandwidth carrier systems, different optimized schedules for system and master information transmission, different channelization codes and channels, and/or different scaled spreading factors may be identified and utilized.

High data rate broadcast channel systems, devices, and methods

Techniques are provided for efficient peer-to-peer (P2P) service discovery and group formation, as well as maintenance of P2P session continuity. In one example, there is provided a method, operable by an originating user equipment (UE), that may involve transmitting a request for P2P service discovery and group formation assistance to a discovery server via a serving node over an air-interface channel. The method may involve receiving scoped information from the discovery server for participating in a P2P communication session, and establishing the P2P communication session with at least one terminating UE based at least in part on the received scoped information. The method may involve maintaining P2P communication session continuity by reverting to bearer signaling via a packet core.

Multi-homed peer-to-peer network

Techniques for performing registration with a wireless network using integrity protection and/or ciphering are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform a security procedure with the wireless network for a first session and may generate UE security context data at the UE. The UE security context data may include a cipher key used for ciphering, an integrity key used for integrity protection, a temporary UE identity, and/or other information. The UE may use the UE security context data for secure communication with the wireless network during the first session. The UE may store the UE security context data upon termination of the first session. The UE may thereafter use the stored UE security context data for registration with the wireless network for a second session following the first session. The UE may perform integrity protection and/or ciphering for message(s) for registration based on the stored UE security context data.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines an operational state of a header compressor or a header decompressor by determining a transition between different operational states associated with the header compressor and/or by determining a transition between different operational states associated with the header decompressor. A persistent scheduling mode is changed in response to a change in the operational state of the header compressor. The persistent scheduling mode may be changed by activating uplink persistent scheduling when the operational state of the header compressor changes from a first order state to a second order state, and/or by deactivating the uplink persistent scheduling when the operational state of the header compressor exits the second order state.

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate indicating global cell identifier (GCI) reporting in wireless communication to mitigate confusion caused by physical cell identifier (PCI) reporting in heterogeneous deployments. In particular, mobile devices can report GCI of access points to disparate access points to facilitate communication therebetween, such as during handover. Mobile devices can indicate GCI reporting during a system access request by selecting an access sequence corresponding to subsequent GCI reporting. Based on the access sequence, an access point can grant additional resources to receive the GCI, and the mobile device can communicate GCI over the resources. Using the GCI, the access point can communicate with a disparate access point related to the GCI.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose methods for reporting information such as a maximum power spectral density to a serving access point after receiving overload indicators from one or more neighboring access points. The reported information may be multiplexed with other information (e.g., Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), Precoding Matrix Index (PMI), rank indication (RI) or acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgment (NACK) message for downlink data channel) before transmission to the serving access point. In addition, the information may be transmitted in a medium access control (MAC) packet data unit (PDU).
