A first group embodiments provide a method performed by a network node (NN) in a wireless network comprising responsive to a DL data intended for a user equipment (UE), transmitting a first short signal burst to the UE over a channel using a directional beam, and based on detecting a first response to the first short signal burst from the UE indicating that the channel is available, transmitting at least a portion of the DL data to the UE over the channel using the directional beam. A second group embodiments provide a method performed by a NN comprising determining availability of a channel between the network node and the UE using a directional beam, based on determining that the channel is available, transmitting a first resource grant for transmission of a UL data by the UE, and receiving the UL data from the UE over the channel using the directional beam.

Receiver assisted directional channel sensing for NR-U

A method is provided for use in a network node in wireless communications network. The method includes determining, a plurality of transmission opportunities, TXOPs, in which to attempt to transmit a paging signal in a plurality of beams. The plurality of beams have a beam order. The method further includes assigning a predetermined number of the plurality of TXOPs to each beam of the plurality of beams, wherein none of the TXOPs is assigned to more than one beam. The method further includes performing at least one clear channel assessment, CCA, before transmitting the paging signal in one of the TXOPs. The method further includes transmitting the paging signal in a first beam of the plurality of beams using one of the plurality of TXOPs assigned to the first beam based on a first successful CCA covering the used TXOP.

Handling multiple transmission opportunities in a paging occasion

Embodiments include methods implemented in a wireless device for reporting of a cell global identifier (CGI) in a wireless network. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a synchronization signal/physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block from a network node; locating a control resource set (CORESET) configured by the network node through determining a frequency position of the CORESET based on a value received from the network node through radio resource control signaling; and determining and reporting the CGI to the network node based on the located CORESET. In another embodiment, the CORESET is located through testing a set of one or more reference frequency candidates from which a frequency position of the CORESET is determined.

Enhanced cell global identifier reporting

Synchronization signal and Physical Broadcast Channel, SS/PBCH, block management. A network node determines whether a network condition is met, signals to a communication terminal to apply a first detection method for SS/PBCH block detection when the network condition is determined to be met, signals to the communication terminal to apply a second detection method for SS/PBCH block detection when the network condition is determined as not met, and transmits SS/PBCH blocks according to the first or the second SS/PBCH block detection method, based on whether the network condition is met. The communication terminal receives the signalling from the network node associated with the communication network, determines whether the indicated SS/PBCH block detection method is a first or a second SS/PBCH block detection method based on the received signalling, and applies, based on the determination, the first or the second SS/PBCH block detection method for SS/PBCH block detection.

Synchronization signal / physical broadcast channel block method detection and management

Systems and methods for efficient use of unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a transmitter comprises performing a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure for a channels within a transmit bandwidth of the transmit node, where the transmit bandwidth is divided into a bandwidth parts that correspond to the channels. The method further comprises transmitting a transmission in a subset of the bandwidth parts that correspond to a subset of the channels determined, based on a result of the LBT procedure, to be available. Transmitting the transmission comprises transmitting the transmission in accordance with a transmit scheme that uses carrier aggregation and/or carrier merging to transmit the transmission on the subset of the bandwidth parts and uses resources in one or more guard bands between two or more adjacent bandwidth parts from among the subset of the bandwidth parts.

Methods for efficient use of unlicensed spectrum

A method is implemented in a wireless transceiver device arranged to operate in a cellular wireless communication network and capable of operating in an unlicensed spectrum where listen-before-talk is employed. The method includes determining a first parameter, for the unlicensed operation, indicative on provision of synchronisation signal blocks, and determining quasi-co-location, QCL, relationship between one or more synchronisation signal and physical broadcast channel, SS/PBCH, blocks each having a first index, by determining a second index for the one or more SS/PBCH blocks by applying a modulo operation on the first index, respectively, based on the first parameter, where the QCL relationship is determined to occur if the second indices coincide. Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method of an access network node of a carrier aggregation enabled cellular wireless communication system, and a method of a wireless terminal device of a carrier aggregation enabled cellular wireless communication system are disclosed. The method for the network node comprises identifying a need for an inter-band handover where a same physical frequency on which the access network node interacts with a wireless terminal device has more than one logical reference, wherein the wireless terminal device currently operates using a first logical reference, assigning a target frequency for the inter-band handover as a second logical reference for the physical frequency, and performing handover signalling with the wireless terminal device including the assigned target frequency. The method of the wireless terminal device comprises performing operation where a need for an inter-band handover occurs where a same physical frequency on which the wireless terminal device interacts with an access network node of the cellular wireless communication system has more than one logical reference, wherein the wireless terminal device currently operates using a first logical reference, and performing handover signalling with the access network node including receiving an assigned target frequency which is a second logical reference for the physical frequency. A network node, a wireless terminal device and computer programs for these for implementing the methods are also disclosed.

Inter-band handover of the same physical frequency

A method, network node and wireless device for flexible configuration of channel occupancy measurements in New Radio (NR) are disclosed. According to one aspect, a wireless device configured to communicate with a network node is provided. The wireless device includes processing circuitry configured to: determine a time-domain configuration for a channel occupancy measurement based on at least one configuration parameter where the time-domain configuration is independent of subcarrier spacing of at least one carrier on which the channel occupancy measurement is performed; and optionally perform the channel occupancy measurement based at least on the determined time-domain configuration.

An example method is performed by a wireless device in a wireless communication network. The method comprises receiving, from a base station, a control message allocating resources in a bandwidth part for a downlink transmission, the bandwidth part including unlicensed spectrum and being divided into a plurality of bandwidth pieces corresponding to bandwidth units over which listen-before-talk (LBT) is performed. The radio resources used for the downlink transmissions exclude (e.g., by puncturing or rate-matching around) one or more guard bands of a bandwidth piece that is sensed as free for transmission.

Methods, nodes and computer program products control radio channel deployment when using un-licensed carriers in a wireless communication network and control mobility and/or load balancing target selection when using un-licensed carriers. When performed in an access node, unlicensed carrier intrinsic cell channel load is determined in a cell served by the access node based on one or more predetermined channel load indicators and neighbor cell channel load information is obtained, from one or more neighboring access nodes.
