There is provided a structure for positioning a first mold part of a mold on a mold mounting face in an injection molding machine. The structure comprises a positioner configured to connect the first mold part to part of the injection molding machine, wherein the positioner is adjustable to position the first mold part on the mold mounting face. The structure further comprises controller executable instructions executable in a controller with which to resolve an alignment parameter of the mold using a feedback signal from a sensor. Further provided is a method of operating an injection molding machine which method comprises the steps of positioning a first mold part of a mold on a mold mounting face using a positioner and appreciating an alignment parameter of the mold with reference to a feedback signal from a sensor.

Mold positioning device

Disclosed herein, amongst other things, are structure and steps for positioning a first mold part of a mold on a mold mounting face in an injection molding machine. In particular, the structure and steps may include a positioner that is configured to connect the first mold part to part of the injection molding machine, wherein the positioner is adjustable to position the first mold part across the mold mounting face.

According to embodiments of the present invention, there is provided an adjustment device for adjusting a distance between a take-off plate and a treatment device of a molding system and a method for use thereof. More specifically, there is provided a distance adjustment device configured to adjust a distance between a take-off plate coupled to a fixed platen of a molding system and a treatment device coupled to a movable platen of the molding system. The adjustment device comprises a movable platen engagement interface configured for attachment to the movable platen of the molding system; a plenum engagement interface configured for attachment to the treatment device; a distance adjustment mechanism configured to selectively fix a position of the treatment device relative to the movable platen in a desired position.

Disclosed is a molding-system platen, comprising a mold-support face being configured to support a mold, the mold-support face including a frustum-shaped structure having a pedestal, the pedestal being centrally positioned relative to the mold-support face, and the pedestal being offset rearward of the mold-support face, and the pedestal defining a force-receiving face being offset rearward from the mold-support face, and the force-receiving face being smaller than the mold-support face; a border surrounding the mold-support face, and a width of the border extending from an outer edge of the mold-support face toward the outer edge of the force-receiving face; an upstanding wall extending posterior of the mold-support face; and a peripheral wall extending around a periphery of the mold-support face; and a canopy linking to, and stiffening, the mold-support face and the border, the canopy being suspended over and covering, at least in part, a posterior of the mold-support face, and the canopy being positioned between the mold-support face and the force-receiving face, the canopy being attached to the upstanding wall, and the upstanding wall linking the canopy to the mold-support face, the canopy attaching with the peripheral wall, the canopy attaching with the upstanding wall.

Disclosed are molding-system platens, molding systems that include the molding-system platens, and a method of a molding-system platen.

A blow clamp for a blow molding apparatus having first and second platens movable between a closed and an open position. The blow clamp includes at least two clamping piston nuts secured to the first platen and respective tie bars secured to the second platen for registering with the clamping piston nuts. The tie bars are rotatable by an actuator between engaging and disengaging configurations. In the engaging configuration the tie bars are axially fixed relative to the clamping piston nuts. In the disengaging configuration the tie bars are freely axially movable relative to the clamping piston nuts. Means are provided to apply an axial closing force to the clamping piston nuts in which force is transferred to the tie bars through engagement with the clamping piston nuts in the clamping configuration.

Blow molding clamp arrangement

The present invention relates to a carrier assembly for supporting the mold center section of a stack mold. The carrier assembly has a pair of mold supports to which the mold center section can be attached. Each mold support is movable along a linear rail attached to the base of a molding machine and has at least one block containing a linear bearing mounted thereto for engaging the linear rail. Each mold support further includes a linkage assembly for connecting the mold support to other platens so as to synchronize movement of each mold support with movement of at least one other platen.

The present invention relates to an improved drive system for rotatable members in molding machines. The drive system comprises at least one frameless, brushless electric motor having a stator mounted to the machine and a rotor directly coupled to the rotatable member. Each rotor is coupled to the rotatable member so that the axis of rotation of the rotor is concentric to the axis of rotation of the rotatable member.
