A driver assist device is described for an industrial truck () with at least one steered wheel () at the rear end of the truck. The lighting effect marks a peripheral path () of the external periphery () of the rear end () of the truck on the roadway () for a selected steering angle as the industrial truck travels in a curve.

The lighting effect forms a position marking () of the load handling device () on the roadway () which will be reached by the load handling device () for a particular steering angle after the industrial truck () travels around a curve by a defined curve angle.

A fork lift truck has a rear-end axle provided with a measuring device to determine the axle load. To enable the axle load to be determined using simple means which are reliable in operation, at least one shearing force detector (or) or normal force detector () in the form of a structural component and arranged in the force flux is integrated into the axle.
