A process includes communicating a coolant flow between an inlet and an outlet of a coolant subsystem that is associated with a cooling domain to remove thermal energy from a plurality of processor-based nodes of the cooling domain. The communication of the coolant flow has associated predefined parameters. The process includes regulating a temperature of the coolant flow at the outlet. In accordance with example implementations, the regulation includes determining, based on the predefined parameters, a minimum collective power consumption by the processor-based nodes to maintain a temperature of the coolant flow at the outlet at or above a minimum threshold temperature, and based on the minimum power consumption, scheduling jobs to be executed by the nodes.

A process includes coupling a push-pull driver of a first bus device to a plurality of communication lines that are associated with a first bus to allow the first bus device to access the first bus using push-pull signaling. The process includes sharing a set of communication lines with the second bus. The sharing includes coupling an open drain driver of a second bus device to the set of communication lines to allow the second bus device to access the second bus using open drain signaling. The sharing includes using the set of communication lines in first time periods in which the first bus device accesses the first bus and using the set of communication lines in second time periods other than the first time periods in which the second bus device accesses the second bus. The sharing includes isolating a push-pull driver of the first bus device from the set of communication lines responsive to the second time periods.

Sharing communication lines among multiple buses

A process includes, responsive to a computer platform being in a pre-operating system mode of operation, a first controller receiving serial data from a first external communication connector of the computer platform and the first controller providing a video output based on the serial data; and routing the video output of the first controller to a display device connector. The process includes, determining whether a video driver of the computer platform is communicating with a second controller via a second external communication connector of the computer platform. The video driver is associated with an operating system mode of operation of the computer platform. The process includes, in response to determining that the video driver is communicating with the second controller, routing a video output of the second controller to the display device connector in place of the video output of the first controller.

Providing video content for pre-boot and post-boot environments of computer platforms

An apparatus comprises a switch and nodes coupled to the switch. Each node does not include an integrated video controller and transmits data to the switch via a USB and a serial connection. The switch comprises a controller which stores video output generated based on data received via serial connections. The controller: receives a user selection for a first node; transmits the user selection to a first multiplexer; retrieves a first video output generated based on data received via the corresponding serial connection; and transmits the first video output to a second multiplexer. The first multiplexer transmits USB data received from the first node to the second multiplexer. If the first node is in a pre-boot environment, the second multiplexer selects the first video output for transmission. If the first node is in a post-boot environment, the second multiplexer selects the data received from the first node for transmission.

Keyboard/video/monitor switch for servers without integrated video controller

A device that is communicating with other devices via a common bus discovers addresses of the other devices. The device transmits data to the other devices at a transmit time determined based on the addresses of the other devices. The device predicts receive times at which data will be received from the other devices and determines the transmit time based on predicted receive times, avoiding data collisions. The devices may include universal sensor data acquisition devices ('USDADs') that are each connectable to different types of sensors arranged within a server rack. Each USDAD determines a type of a connected sensor that is within a server rack and collects sensor data from the connected sensor.

A method disclosed herein relates to determining an inventory of a plurality of servers based on unique fingerprints and common fingerprints; creating a common set of installed firmware and a plurality of unique sets of installed firmware based on the inventory of the plurality of servers; creating subcategory sets of installed firmware based on the common set of installed firmware and categories of components included in the plurality of servers; obtaining updated versions of firmware corresponding to the subcategory sets of installed firmware and the unique sets of installed firmware; in response to an update request, creating containers for the updated versions of firmware corresponding to the subcategory sets of the installed firmware and the unique sets of installed firmware; and sending update messages to the plurality of servers including links to the respective containers.

Examples disclosed herein relate to securing a controller of a device. The controller is to determine whether a network interface of the device is connected to the Internet. Communications are restricted on the network interface in response to the port having access to the Internet. In some examples, the restriction can be related to a vulnerability.

Examples disclosed herein relate to determination of a power capping signal based on direct memory access. In an example, a hardware timer in a processor may generate a hardware trigger. In response to the hardware trigger, an analog-to-digital convertor (ADC) engine may obtain an analog voltage signal from a server. ADC engine may convert the analog voltage signal to a digital output. ADC engine may then generate a second hardware trigger. In response to the second hardware trigger, a direct memory access engine may provide the digital output to a programmable logic device via a direct memory access (DMA) operation. The programmable logic device may determine a power capping signal based on the digital output, and provide the power capping signal to the server.

Examples disclosed herein relate to fabric cable emulation. Some examples disclosed herein include determining connection data associated with a connection between a fabric interface of a cluster node in a fabric cluster and a fabric switch. Based on the determined connection data, configuration parameters for the connection may be calculated and stored in a memory device on the cluster node. An interface signal may be asserted to the fabric interface of the cluster node after the calculated configuration parameters are stored to indicate that the cluster node is available in the fabric cluster.

Examples disclosed herein relate to determining a power sense output based on a current sense line and a voltage sense line. A first stage circuit has a first voltage input of the current sense line of a server. The first stage circuit also has a feedback voltage input based on an output voltage of the first stage circuit and a variable resistance value based on the voltage sense line of the server. A second stage circuit is used to buffer the first output voltage to yield a second output voltage. A third stage circuit yields a power sense output based on a difference between the second output voltage and the first voltage input.

A method for disabling counterfeit cartridge operation is provided. The method includes detecting a cartridge in a blade enclosure. The method includes checking authentication credentials of the cartridge. The method includes determining the cartridge to be counterfeit.
