A method of controlling a medical fluid therapy machine display brightness includes: performing a medical fluid therapy using the medical fluid therapy machine, the medical fluid therapy machine including a display; sensing an amount of ambient light impinging the display without receiving light directly from the display; controlling a level of backlight brightness for the display based on the amount of ambient light sensed; and displaying information relating to the medical fluid therapy on the display using the controlled level of backlight brightness.

Method of controlling medical fluid therapy machine brightness

A medical therapy machine includes: an enclosure; a medical therapy machine component located inside the enclosure; a video monitor supported by the enclosure and displaying at least one of information and indicia relating to the medical therapy; an ambient light sensor positioned with respect to the enclosure so as to be able to sense a level of ambient light impinging the enclosure; and a logic implementor configured to control a level of backlight brightness for the video monitor based on the level of ambient light sensed by the sensor.

Dialysis system having video display with ambient light adjustment

A dialysis system includes: a dialysis machine for performing a first dialysis session on a patient at a first time of a day; a remote exchange device for performing a second dialysis session on the patient at a second time of the day, the remote exchange device configured to record an amount of ultrafiltration ('UF') that is removed from the patient over the second dialysis session; and a communication link between the dialysis machine and the remote exchange device, wherein the dialysis machine is configured to receive the recorded amount UF removed from the remote exchange device via the communication link and determine a total amount of UF removed from the patient over the first and second sessions.

System and method for automated data collection of twenty-four hour ultrafiltration and other patient parameters using wired or wireless technology

A fluid volumetric pumping system has a fluid pump and capacitor plates disposed around a pump chamber of the fluid pump. The capacitance between the capacitor plates changes as the volume of fluid in the pump chamber changes. An electrical circuit measures a change in the capacitance between the plates and outputs a signal indicative of the volume of fluid in the pump chamber. The pump having the capacitance sensor of the present invention fluidly connects to a patient. In an embodiment, a peritoneal dialysis system provides dialysate to the patient via the pump, and the capacitance sensor measures the volume of dialysate supplied to and drained from a peritoneal cavity of the patient.
