An imaging system is provided. A first imaging system captures initial sensor data in a form of visible domain data. A second imaging system captures subsequent sensor data in a form of second domain data, wherein the initial and subsequent sensor data are of different spectral domains. A controller subsystem detects at least one region of interest in real-time by applying a machine learning technique to the visible domain data, localizes at least one object of interest in the at least one region of interest to generate positional data for the at least one object of interest, and autonomously steers a point of focus of the second imaging system to a region of a scene including the object of interest to capture the second domain data responsive to the positional data.

Guided multi-spectral inspection

A radar reflector is positioned at a predetermined angle and distance from a device to be tested. The device to be tested includes at least one of a transmit phased array antenna and a receive phased array antenna. At least two antenna elements of the at least one of a transmit phased array antenna and a receive phased array antenna are activated to carry out one of transmitting and receiving. A plurality of phase control settings are cycled through to determine an optimum phase control setting for the predetermined angle.

Multi-direction phased array calibration

A method for detecting the presence of on-body concealed objects includes receiving a visible-domain camera image for a scene, determining, using the visible-domain camera image, a region of interest where a subject is present, receiving an infrared-domain camera image and a millimeter-wave (mmwave) radar image that each cover the region of interest, determining emissivity information for the region of interest using the infrared-domain camera image, determining reflectivity information for the region of interest using the mmwave radar image and determining a concealed object classification for the subject based on the emissivity information and the reflectivity information. A corresponding system and computer program product for executing the above method are also disclosed herein.

Concealed object detection

Tuning parameters of individual wavelength channels transmitted over a multimode optical fiber is provided. Characteristics of the multimode optical fiber used for an optical data link within an optical signal transmission system are retrieved. A wavelength channel grid including each central wavelength in a plurality of central wavelengths that corresponds to each particular wavelength channel in a plurality of wavelength channels used to transmit data via optical signals over the multimode optical fiber is determined. A maximum allowable data rate is calculated for each wavelength channel based on the characteristics of the multimode optical fiber at defined channel wavelengths, optical signal transceiver specifications, and data transmission performance requirements for the optical signal transmission system. Operational parameters are assigned to each wavelength channel based on the calculated maximum allowable data rate for each wavelength channel to achieve the data transmission performance requirements for the optical signal transmission system.

Realizing coarse wavelength-division multiplexing using standard multimode optical fibers

An optical connector includes a fiber element incorporating one or more optical fibers, the optical fiber including a plurality of cores, and an optical element including an array of optical waveguides arranged in one or more layers so as to match the geometry of the plurality of cores of the optical fiber.

Multicore fiber coupler between multicore fibers and optical waveguides

A mode-selective add/drop unit for a mode division de/multiplexing device includes an optical ADU waveguide adapted for coupling to an input optical waveguide. The optical ADU waveguide includes at least one region providing optical signal coupling between the ADU waveguide and a multi-mode waveguide; and, one or more phase matching regions for controlling a relative or absolute phase difference between an electromagnetic wave (EMW) carried in the ADU waveguide and the multi-mode waveguide. The mode-selective add/drop unit may further include a transition region connecting the coupling region and a phase matching region, wherein a shape of a transition region is governed by a polynomial function, exponential function, logarithmic function, trigonometric function or, any combination of these functions.

Multi-mode multiplexing using staged coupling and quasi-phase-matching

Systems and methods for processing an optical signal are disclosed. The optical signal is converted to a voltage signal and the voltage signal is amplified. In addition, a signal strength and/or a signal quality parameter is monitored and an indication of the signal strength and/or a signal quality parameter is generated. Further, a gain and/or an operating bandwidth on the conversion or the amplification can be adjusted based on the indication to reduce power consumption of an optical receiver.

Adaptive power efficient receiver architecture

A method and structure for coupling to a plurality of multicore optical fiber strands. A first plurality of optoelectronic devices is provided on a surface of a substrate, the first optoelectronic devices being arranged in a 2D array pattern that corresponds to a 2D array pattern corresponding to different light cores of a first multicore optical fiber. A second plurality of optoelectronic devices is provided on the surface of the substrate, the second optoelectronic devices being arranged in a 2D array pattern that corresponds to a 2D array pattern corresponding to different light cores of a second multicore optical fiber. Each optoelectronic device on the substrate surface provides one of a receive function and a transmit function for interacting with a corresponding core of a multicore optical fiber strand.

Packaged multicore fiber optical transceiver module

An optical testing device includes an optical fiber having a first numerical aperture at a first end of the optical fiber. A positioning structure is attached to the optical fiber for moving the first end of the optical fiber to any portion of a substrate for testing an optical device. The optical device may be disposed at any location on the substrate and provides a light beam with an emission angle less than the first numerical aperture. A test head collects the light beam through the optical fiber to test the optical device. A method for positioning the optical fiber and testing the optical device is also disclosed.
