The invention relates to a method for estimating power in a CDMA telecommunications system, in which method a sample set is formed from the received signals. The proposed method reiterates the following steps, until a predetermined ending condition is fulfilled: forming an absolute value set from the absolute values of sample set elements, setting a threshold value; calculating a reference value by multiplying the mean of the absolute value set by the threshold value; comparing the element of the absolute value set with the reference value and forming a second sample set by deleting elements exceeding the reference value from the sample set; the ending condition being fulfilled, estimating the power on the basis of the remaining sample set.

Telecommunications system and receiver

The invention relates to a method for processing a signal, in which method a sample set is formed and a set of absolute values is formed. The method includes A) arranging the elements of the absolute value set in the ascending order; B) setting a threshold value; C) determining the number of elements of a reference set to be formed; D) forming a reference set; E) computing a reference value by multiplying the mean or median of the reference set by the threshold value; F) comparing the greatest element of the reference set with the reference value; G) increasing the number of reference set elements; H) reiterating the preceding steps D to G until the predetermined ending condition is fulfilled; I) forming an accepted absolute value set and a sample set by deleting the greatest element from the reference set.

Signal-processing method and a receiver

A method and apparatus are provided including setting an interference level threshold, to sample the received signal, storing the sample values as first sample value vectors of a predetermined length, and forming prediction matrices of the first sample value vectors. The method and apparatus also modify prediction matrices in such a way that the interference components and the components of the desired signal are separated from each other, form signal matrices by performing rank reduction for each prediction matrix by rejecting those sample values or elements representing them that exceed the interference level threshold, form second sample value vectors of the signal matrices, and sum up sample values of second sample value vectors time-coherently to average the noise by sliding the sample value window, to be used to attenuate interference in the system.

Method and arrangement for interference attenuation

A receiver in a radio system, the receiver comprising means for receiving a signal, an analogue-to-digital converter for providing signal samples from the received signal. The receiver comprises means for selecting a set of signal samples, means for forming a statistical function value on the basis of the selected signal sample values, means for forming a threshold value on the basis of the statistical function value and a preset threshold parameter, means for dividing the samples between a set within the statistical distribution and a set outside the distribution by using the threshold value as a limit, and means for repeating said statistical function value formation by using the set in accordance with the distribution, said threshold value formation and said division of samples into said sets if the termination condition for repetition is not fulfilled.

Extracting signal components in radio system receiver

The method includes: computing at least one transform of a received, analogue-to-digital converted radio signal; computing metrics defining the concentration of the interference present both for the transformed radio signal and the non-transformed radio signal; selecting the transform whose metrics indicate the highest concentration of the interference in the transfer domain as the transform to be used, or selecting no transform if the metrics indicate the highest concentration of the interference for the non-transformed signal; suppressing the localized interference from the transformed radio signal by using weighting and computing inverse transform of the transformed radio signal if the transform was selected, or suppressing the localized interference from the non-transformed radio signal by using weighting if no transform was selected; and detecting and decoding the interference suppressed radio signal.
