A wireless power transmission method of control is disclosed where equalization of the reactive voltages of a series resonant circuit, which is part of a transmitter antenna tuning and coupling unit, is obtained by adjusting the switching frequency and thereby used to determine a switching frequency of the driving high frequency inverter. By measuring and largely equalizing the voltage parameters of the series resonant circuit to establish an inverter switching frequency, improved efficiency of the wireless power transmission method.

Dynamic tuning using reactive voltages on a series resonator

A wireless power transmission method of control where an electrical parameter of a resonant circuit, which is part of a transmitter antenna tuning and coupling unit, determines in some part the regulation current level target or power level target of the resonant circuit. By using an electrical parameter of a resonant circuit to establish a current or power regulation level of the resonant circuit, a maximum limitation is established for the electrical current and voltage of the antenna tuning and coupling unit in order to operate the electrical elements within safe design limits. Additionally, energy is managed entering the transmitter antenna tuning and coupling unit for variable load at the receiver.

Reactive power regulation of wireless power transfer network

An injector, including: a moveable armature having a bore and upper and lower control surfaces; a lower housing including a bore and upper and lower stationary control surfaces; and a flow geometry defined along an exterior of the armature. The armature includes a transverse flow path fluidly coupled with the armature bore and the flow geometry. The lower housing includes a transverse flow path fluidly coupled with the lower housing bore. Upon moving the armature from a first position to a second position, a first flow path is formed between the flow geometry and the lower housing transverse flow geometry through a space between the lower stationary control surface and the lower armature control surface, and a second flow path is formed between the armature bore and the lower housing transverse flow geometry through a space between the upper stationary control surface and the armature upper control surface.

The output voltage is based on a frequency of the oscillator signal.

A voltage-representation signal, which is proportional to a voltage across a heater component, is received. A magnified voltage-representation signal is generated by determining a difference between a voltage baseline offset, which represents a minimum operating voltage of the heater component, and the voltage-representation signal. A current-representation signal, which is proportional to an electrical current passing through the heater component is received. A magnified current-representation signal is generated by determining a difference between a current baseline offset, which represents a minimum operating current of the heater component, and the current-representation signal. The magnified current-representation signal is modulated to generate a resistance-representation signal that is proportional to an amount of modulation that makes the magnified current-representation signal approximately equal to the magnified voltage-representation signal.

Resistance determination with increased sensitivity for temperature control of heated automotive components

A dosing valve for administering a reducing agent into an exhaust stream within an exhaust manifold of an internal combustion engine. The dosing valve includes a valve needle internally coaxial to a valve body and held in a closed position by a force of compressed spring acting axially and held in relation to the valve needle and valve body. The negative impact of varnish and dehydrogenated compounds, or coking products, of hydrocarbon based reducing agents, is substantially reduced or eliminated. Additionally, this includes decreased sensitivity to the negative impact of the precipitates and crystals that come out of the solution due to temperature change with urea-based reducing agents.

A temperature of a heated component is determined for control and monitoring. The heater driver, upon receipt of a turn-on signal, generates a current within a component of a heated fuel injector, wherein the current through the component generates an appropriate loss to generate heat for a variable spray fuel injection system. The heater driver regulates the energy to the heated component based on the electrical resistance of that component as a function of temperature and a predetermined reference value for that temperature.

Using resistance equivalent to estimate temperature of a fuel-injector heater

Electrical resistance of a heated component is determined for temperature control and monitoring. A voltage-representation signal, which is proportional to a voltage across a heater component, is received. A current-representation signal, which is proportional to an electrical current passing through the heater component is received and modulated to generate a resistance-representation signal that is proportional to an amount of modulation that makes the current-representation signal approximately equal to the voltage-representation signal. The modulation may be pulse-width modulation. The resistance-representation signal may be generated based on a signal that is proportional to the percent duty cycle of the pulse width modulation. A difference of the resistance-representation signal and the voltage-representation signal may be integrated to provide an error signal adapted to cause the modulation to be proportional to an electrical resistance of the heater component.

Resistance determination for temperature control of heated automotive components

A temperature of a heated component is determined for control and monitoring. The heater driver, upon receipt of a turn-on signal, generates a current within a component of an electronic catalyst or exhaust after-treatment component, wherein the current through the component generates an appropriate loss to generate heat for facilitation of an exhaust after-treatment process. The heater driver regulates the energy to the heated component based on the electrical resistance of that component as a function of temperature and a predetermined reference value for that temperature.

Using resistance equivalent to estimate heater temperature of an exhaust gas after-treatment component

An air bypass valve () includes a solenoid assembly () including a magnetic housing (), a coil bobbin () in the magnetic housing, a coil () disposed about the coil bobbin, and a magnetic flux ring () coupled with the magnetic housing. An armature and seal assembly () includes an armature structure () that can move with respect to the solenoid assembly from a closed position to an open position in response to a magnetic field generated by the coil. Seal structure () is coupled with armature structure so that the seal structure can pivot with respect to the armature structure. The seal structure has a sealing edge () to seal with a manifold component when the armature structure is in the closed position thereof. A spring () biases the armature structure to the closed position and a main housing covers () the magnetic housing.

Automotive air bypass valve

A heat exchanger, internal to an injector for a variable spray fuel injection system, uses nucleate boiling to maximize the heat flux from the heated metal to the fuel, wherein the nucleate boiling occurs along a control surface characterized by features conducive to generating detaching bubbles to transfer heat energy in a vapor flux. The source of heat flux may be an induction heater coil magnetically coupled to an appropriate loss component so that fuel inside a fuel component is heated to a desired temperature.

A reductant delivery unit for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) after-treatment for vehicles includes a solenoid operated fluid injector associated with an exhaust gas flow path upstream of a SCR catalytic converter. The fluid injector has a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The fluid inlet receiving a source of reducing agent and the fluid outlet communicating with the exhaust gas flow path so that the fluid injector controls injection of urea solution into the exhaust gas flow path. The fluid injector has an inlet tube for directing the reducing agent between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. A shield is fixed with respect to the fluid injector and surrounds at least portions of the fluid injector. A coil heater is integral with the fluid injector and is constructed and arranged, when energized, to inductively heat the inlet tube to thereby heat the reducing agent within the inlet tube.

Reductant delivery unit for automotive selective catalytic reduction with reducing agent heating

A fuel injector assembly includes a first coil that induces a time varying magnetic field into a second coil that is utilized to heat fuel flowing through the fuel injector. A first coil receives a first signal from a driver to generate a first magnetic field that moves an armature between an open and closed position. The second coil generates a second magnetic field generated by a current induced by the first coil into the second coil. The induced current is generated by an alternating current signal that is interposed onto a direct current signal sent to the first coil. The alternating current signal produces a time varying second magnetic field that induces heating of a magnetically active component with the fuel flow that in turn heats the fuel.

Inductive heated injector using voltage transformer technology

A fuel delivery system for a vehicle includes a fuel injector that dispenses heated fuel flow and controls the temperature of the heated fuel within a desired temperature range. Fuel flowing through the example fuel injector is inductively heated by a valve element sealed with the fuel flow. A driver controller detects changes in temperature by monitoring changes in parameters that vary responsive to temperature in the material of the heated element. Changes in the material responsive to temperature are utilized to tailor input into the heated element to maintain a desired temperature of the heated element and thereby the temperature of the fuel.
