A method for reducing chatter in an extrusion process, which includes the steps of preparing an extrusion composition by combining a polymer composition with a chatter-reducing formulation, and extruding the extrusion composition to provide a substantially continuous extrudate. The chatter-reducing formulation comprises an alkyltin mercaptide and dibutyltin dilaurate. The resultant extrudate exhibits reduced chatter, which is categorized according to the Reed Scale as less than or equal to 2.

Method of reducing chatter

An alkyltin compound of specified formula which has utility as an excellent stabilizer for a halogen-containing resin. The alkyltin compound has from 1-3 terminal thiol groups.

A composition is disclosed that comprises rigid PVC and from about 0.1 to about 10 phr of an EPM copolymer. The compositions optionally also include one or several additives selected from lubricants, impact modifiers, process aids, fusion promoters, heat stabilizers, co-stabilizers, fillers, pigments, antioxidants, UV absorbers, antistats, metal release agents, and plasticizers. The EPM is particularly useful as a PVC gloss reducing agent and additive enhancing agent for such polymer additives, particularly lubricants, heat stabilizers, UV absorbers, and pigments.
