A device described herein, such as a User Plane Function ('UPF') of a core network or some other network element, may receive traffic associated with a first User Equipment (“UE”) and a second UE. The traffic may include a first set of packets associated with the first UE and a second set of packets associated with the second UE. The first and second packets may be received in a first sequence. The device may generate a second sequence by re-sequencing the received traffic based on Quality of Service (“QoS”) parameters associated with the traffic, such as 5G QoS Identifier (“5QI”) values. The device may generate a third sequence by re-sequencing the second sequence based on parameters associated with at least the first UE or the second UE. The device may output at least a portion of the received traffic in accordance with the third sequence.

Systems and methods for multi-factor traffic scheduling in a wireless network

A system described herein may receive a request to associate a protocol data unit ('PDU') session, between a particular User Equipment (“UE”) and a network, with multiple network slices. The system may provide the particular PDU session identifier to a first set of network devices that are associated with the first slice, and to a second set of network devices that are associated with the second slice. The network may route first traffic, received from the UE, to the first set of network devices based on the first traffic including the particular PDU session identifier and the identifier of the first network slice. The network may route second traffic, received from the UE, to the second set of network devices based on the second traffic including the particular PDU session identifier and the identifier of the second network slice.

Systems and methods for multi-slice communication sessions in a wireless network

A system comprises one or more devices that implement network functions (NFs). The NFs comprise a network data analytics function (NWDAF) configured to provide first analytics to a policy control function (PCF). In addition, the NFs also comprise the PCF configured to: receive the first analytics from the NWDAF; generate a first policy rule based on the first analytics; and forward the generated first policy rule to a network component to process the first policy rule at the network component.

System and method for reducing network component loads

A device may receive network data identifying uplink/downlink packet loss percentage, uplink/downlink jitter, uplink/downlink latency, and uplink/downlink packet throughput associated with a slice of a network, and may set an uplink value for each of the uplink packet loss percentage, the uplink jitter, the uplink latency, and the uplink packet throughput. The device may multiply the uplink values by corresponding uplink weights to calculate an uplink cost, and may set a downlink value for each of the downlink packet loss percentage, the downlink jitter, the downlink latency, and the downlink packet throughput. The device may multiply the downlink values by corresponding downlink weights to calculate a downlink cost, and may calculate a total cost based on the uplink cost and the downlink cost. The device may cause another slice, with the same attributes as the slice, to be instantiated when the total cost satisfies a threshold for a time period.

Systems and methods for monitoring performance of a network slice and mitigating load on the network slice

The disclosed technology teaches dispersion analysis of individual UE devices, measuring the span of cellular locations in a 5G network over which the bulk of a user's data, voice minutes and text messaging usage take place. Dispersion analysis also measures the span of cellular locations over which the bulk of a user's transactions and failed transactions take place, providing insights into camping behavior on specific cellular locations and hot spot formation. The technology disclosed includes new collection and filtering of location data to pinpoint cellular communication challenges encountered by users as well as system improvement and remediation opportunities. Additionally, this technology enables reporting of the detected behavior and related hot spots formation analysis with identifiers of UE mobile devices involved. The technology also applies to 3G 4G and future mobile networks and can be utilized for a group of UE devices selected for analysis, by device, geography, or affinity.

Measuring and using dispersion for user mobility analytics to improve management of cellular systems

The disclosed technology takes into account mobility behavior and interactions with a serving cellular network of a UE mobile device, when determining network interaction parameters for the UE, including providing an identifier of the UE to a NWDAF component that subscribes to receive notices that report changed or changing events, including a change in connectivity to any cell for any UE and any service usage on the cell and performs a dispersion analysis by analyzing the incoming notices to determine multiple dispersion indices as the UE mobile device changes its selection of a base station or a cell or a slice. Also included are network elements receiving the dispersion analysis for the UE mobile device and performing a policy update and/or a radio access network (RAN) decision for the UE mobile device based on at least the dispersion analysis. The technology also applies to 3G, 4G and future mobile networks.

Updating policy and radio access network decisions based on dispersion analytics of cellular systems

The disclosed technology teaches detecting abnormal behavior of a UE mobile device, including a network data analytics function component, in communication with core network components of a cellular network, subscribing to location change-related events that report a change event for a UE device connection to and/or drop or handover from a cell. Included is analyzing location change-related events to detect abnormal handover behavior when the UE device changes its selection of a base station or cell more than N times in not more than M minutes, and reporting the detected abnormal handover behavior with an identifier of the UE mobile device involved and the involved cell's ID. The technology also applies to a group of UE devices selected for analysis, by device, geography or custom-defined affinity, with selection changes among a set of base stations or neighboring cells, each selected at least twice by the UE device in M minutes.

Abnormal mobility pattern detection for misbehaving devices

The present invention provides a method of relocating functional entities in access service networks during mobility events. One embodiment of the method includes providing context information representative of two or more functional entities from a source access service network (ASN) to a target ASN. Another embodiment of the method includes receiving context information representative of two or more functional entities at a target ASN from a source ASN. The context information for the functional entities is associated with an access terminal and is provided in response to the source ASN receiving a relocation notification from the target ASN as a result of a handoff request or a location update message.

Method of relocating access service network functional entities during mobility events in WiMAX networks

A network access system, e.g. a network hotspot, requires a mobile network access device, e.g. a smart phone or WiFi only device, to provide a network access standard designation and/or a device identification datum to gain access to network services. The network access standard designation may be provided by the mobile network access device to an online signup server via a EKU_key_purpose field of a PKCS10 certificate signing request. The device identification datum may be provided to the OSU via a subject field of the signing request. The OSU may require that the device identification datum be the same as a device identification datum provided by the mobile network access device prior to the mobile network access device requesting a signed network access certificate.

A method is provided for triggering migration of call session state information. The method includes determining whether to migrate a network access agent associated with an access terminal in a wireless communication system based on at least one of mobility information associated with the access terminal and status information associated with the wireless communication system.

Paging messages are transmitted by a wireless communications network to mobile terminals, which have been in an idle state or dormant mode and which have waiting calls/data from their associated peer entities, in accordance with the qualities of service (QoS) associated with the waiting calls/data, where the QoS associated each waiting call/data includes a type of the call/data. To make paging of mobile terminal QoS aware, a QoS field is included in the Paging Announce requests sent from an RNC to another RNC, or from an RNC to a BTS. The QoS field includes: a QoS class of service of the waiting call/data indicating the type of the waiting call; a grade of service of the waiting call/data to which the mobile terminal is subscribed; and, optionally, other QoS service flow parameters whose presence depends on the type of wireless technology being used in the network.

QoS-aware paging in a wireless communication system

The disclosed subject provides embodiments of a method of allocating network identifiers to access terminals. One embodiment of the method includes allocating a fixed length identifier to an access terminal on initial entry of the access terminal to a network. The access terminal is identified by one of a plurality of mode-dependent identifiers in communication over an air interface between the access terminal and the network. The mode-dependent identifier is selected based on an operational mode of the access terminal. The method also includes providing the fixed length identifier to one or more entities in the network.

Methods for dynamic management of security associations in a network are provided. According to one method, a security key management entity determines whether to apply a new security key as an active security key based on an existing active security key. Each of the new security key and the existing active security key are associated with a same home agent, and the existing active security key serves as a basis for an existing security association between the home agent and at least one other network element.
