An apparatus comprising an interface to receive a video signal transmitted by a video source device to a first port of a plurality of ports of a display; and a controller comprising circuitry, the controller to responsive to a detection that the video source device is to enter a standby mode, cause the display to enter a low power state; and upon waking from the low power state, scan the first port of the plurality of ports for a communication from the video source device and quiesce scanning of the remaining one or more ports of the plurality of ports of the display.

Enhanced display wakeup utilizing fast port scanning

Examples described herein include a graphics processing apparatus that includes a memory device and a display engine coupled to the memory device. The display engine is configured to apply dither on a region of an image and modify a first pixel of an image stored in the memory based on pseudo-random noise to reduce color banding impressions. In some examples, the pseudo-random noise is based on one or more of: local brightness estimation and one or more prior noise levels. In some examples, the display engine is to determine the local brightness estimation based on an average brightness of a pixel region surrounding the first pixel and the first pixel. In some examples, the display engine is configured to bound the pseudo-random noise based on a noise applied to a pixel in a same position as that of the first pixel in a prior frame within a same scene.

Reduction of visual artifacts in images

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to manage display luminance, for the purpose of power efficiency, halo reduction, and flicker prevention. An example apparatus includes a backlight analyzer to determine a first baseline luminance level associated with a first segment of a backlight of a screen of a display device based on pixel data defining a frame of content to be displayed via the screen and to determine a second baseline luminance level associated with a second segment of the backlight different than the first segment based on the pixel data, a segment-pair ratio analyzer to determine a segment-pair luminance ratio between the first and second segments based on the first and second baseline luminance levels, and a luminance controller to adjust an amount of power provided to at least one of the first segment of the backlight or the second segment of the backlight when the segment-pair luminance ratio satisfies a threshold.

Methods and apparatus to manage display luminance

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of transferring bulk data, such as OLED compensation mask data, generated by a source device to a sink device using a high-bandwidth embedded DisplayPort (eDP) connection contemporaneous with an ENABLED Panel Self-Refresh (PSR) mode. Upon ENABLING the PSR mode, the source control circuitry causes the source transmitter circuitry, the sink receiver circuitry, and the eDP high-bandwidth communication link to remain active rather than inactive. The source control circuitry generates one or more data transport units (DTUs) having a header portion that contains data indicative of the presence of a bulk data payload and the non-display status of the bulk data payload carried by the DTUs.
