A dielectric insulation medium. The insulation medium is characterized in that it comprises a fluoroketone having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms.

Dielectric insulation medium

A high voltage DC circuit breaker includes a semiconductor switching assembly in series with a mechanical switch. When the semiconductor switching assembly is switched off due to a current fault, a residual current flowing through arresters of the semiconductor switching assembly is switched off by the mechanical switch. A capacitor arranged parallel to the mechanical switch leads to passive resonance effects, which in turn induce current zero crossings in its arc. The current zero crossings allow for reliable extinguishing of the arc. The mechanical switch can be an AC circuit breaker.

Method, circuit breaker and switching unit for switching off high-voltage DC currents

A circuit breaker is disclosed which includes a plurality of stacked breaker modules arranged in series. Each breaker module can include, in parallel, a mechanical switching assembly, a semiconductor switching assembly and an arrester assembly. The circuit breaker can easily be adapted to a larger number of applications and voltage ranges by varying the number of breaker modules.

An exemplary medium or high voltage switch has a first set of contact elements and a second set of contact elements. Each contact element includes an insulating carrier carrying conducting elements. In the closed state of the switch, the conducting elements align to form one or more current paths between terminals of the switch along an axial direction. For opening the switch, the contact elements are mutually displaced by means of one or two drives along a direction perpendicular to the axial direction. The switching arrangement is arranged in a fluid-tight housing in a gas of elevated pressure or in a liquid. The switch has a high voltage withstand capability and fast switching times.

Switch having two sets of contact elements

A high voltage DC breaker apparatus configured to interrupt a fault current occurring in a high voltage DC conductor comprises a mechanical interrupter, at least one semiconductor device connected in series with the interrupter, an arrester connected in parallel with the semiconductor device and an LC-circuit connected in parallel with the series connection of the semiconductor device and the interrupter. A control unit is configured to, upon detection of a fault current, control switching of the semiconductor device at a frequency adapted to the values of an inductance and a capacitance of the LC-circuit for charging the capacitance by the fault current while making the current through the interrupter oscillating with an increasing amplitude and the interrupter to open for having the mechanical contacts thereof separated when current zero-crossing is reached for obtaining interruption of the fault current through the interrupter.

A DC current path for DC power transmission includes at least a first switching element and a second switching element connected in series. A resonance circuit is configured to be connectable in parallel to the series connection of the at least one first switching element and second switching element by means of a switch.

Circuit arrangement and method for interrupting a current flow in a DC current path

A dielectric insulation medium including a fluoroketone containing 5 carbon atoms, in a mixture with a dielectric insulation gas component different from the fluoroketone, in particular air or an air component, the dielectric insulation medium, in particular the dielectric insulation gas, having a non-linearly increased dielectric strength that is larger than a sum of dielectric strengths of the gas components of the dielectric insulation medium.

A dielectric insulation medium including a hydrofluoro monoether, the hydrofluoro monoether containing at least three carbon atoms. The insulation medium according has high insulation capabilities, in particular a high dielectric strength, and at the same time a low GWP. The invention further includes an insulation medium which is chemically and thermally stable also at temperatures above 140&#xb0; C., which is non-toxic or has a low toxicity level, and which in addition is non-corrosive and non-explosive.

The transmission ( ) also has means which allow the movements of the at least two arcing chambers to be technically suitably matched to one another and to be optimized with respect to the time sequence and switching speed thereof.
