A method for joining a first metal part with a second metal part, the metal parts having a solidus temperature above 1100&#xb0; C., includes applying a melting depressant composition on a surface of the first metal part, the melting depressant composition including a melting depressant component that includes at least 25 wt % boron and silicon for decreasing a melting temperature of the first metal part; bringing the second metal part into contact with the melting depressant composition at a contact point on said surface; heating the first and second metal parts to a temperature above 1100&#xb0; C.; and allowing a melted metal layer of the first metal component to solidify, such that a joint is obtained at the contact point. The boron at least partly originates from a boron compound selected from any of the following compounds: boric acid, borax, titanium diboride and boron nitride. The melting depressant composition and related products are also described.

Method for joining metal parts

A heat exchanger plate for use in a plate package for a heat exchanger device is disclosed. The plate has a geometrical main extension plane (q) and a circumferential edge portion, the circumferential edge portion having a curved upper portion, a substantially straight lower portion and two opposing side portions interconnecting the upper and the lower portions. An upper porthole is arranged in an upper section of the heat exchanger plate and located at a distance from the upper portion of the circumferential edge portion thereby defining an upper intermediate portion. The upper intermediate portion includes the shortest distance (d2) between a centre of the upper porthole and the upper portion of the circumferential edge portion. The heat exchanger plate further comprises an upper flange having an extension along the upper portion of the circumferential edge portion. The upper flange has a length (L2) as seen in a direction transverse the shortest distance (d2), being 200-80% of the diameter (D2) of the upper porthole and more preferred 180-120% of the diameter (D2) of the upper porthole. Further, a plate package is disclosed and also a heat exchanger device using such heat exchanger plate/plate package.

A method for joining heat transfer plates, comprising: applying a melting depressant composition on individual application areas of a first metal sheet, each application area comprising a mid-section and two end-sections; pressing ridges and grooves in the metal sheet, the ridges extending in a direction that extends between the end-sections of the application areas, such that the application areas are located on top of the ridges; bringing the metal sheet into contact with a second, pressed metal sheet, such that contact points are formed where the mid-sections of the application areas re located; heating the sheets until melted metal is formed at the application areas where the melting depressant composition is applied; and allowing the melted metal to solidify such that a joint is obtained at the contact points.

Method for joining heat transfer plates of a plate heat exchanger

A method for joining heat transfer plates, comprising: applying a melting depressant composition on individual application areas of a first metal sheet, each application area comprising a mid-section and two end-sections; pressing ridges and grooves in the metal sheet, the ridges extending in a direction that extends between the end-sections of the application areas, such that the application areas are located on top of the ridges; bringing the metal sheet into contact with a second, pressed metal sheet, such that contact points are formed where the mid-sections of the application areas relocated; heating the sheets until melted metal is formed at the application areas where the melting depressant composition is applied; and allowing the melted metal to solidify such that a joint is obtained at the contact points.

A plate heat exchanger for solar heating includes a plurality of channels extending between an inlet and an outlet for conducting a heat transferring fluid. The plurality of channels is defined between a first plate and a second plate, the first and second plates being formed by stainless steel. Each of the plurality of channels has a single-curved extension between the inlet and the outlet as seen in a plane corresponding to the major surface extension of the first and second plates. Each of the plurality of channels has along at least a portion of its longitudinal extension a triangular or a chamfered triangular cross-section or a parallelogram or a chamfered parallelogram cross-section. The side walls of two adjacent channels define an angle &#x3b1; corresponding to, or smaller than, 100 degrees and more preferred smaller than 90 degrees.

Brazing concept

The present invention relates to an intermediate product for joining and coating by brazing comprising a base metal and a blend of boron and silicon, said base metal having a solidus temperature above 1040&#xb0; C., and the intermediate product has at least partly a surface layer of the blend on the base metal, wherein the boron in the blend is selected from a boron source, and the silicon in the blend is selected from a silicon source, and wherein the blend comprises boron and silicon in a ratio of boron to silicon within a range from about 3:100 wt/wt to about 100:3 wt/wt. The present invention relates to composition comprising a blend of at least one boron source and at least one silicon source, and the composition further comprises particles selected from particles having wear resistance properties, particles having surface enhancing properties, particles having catalytic properties or combinations thereof, wherein the blend comprises boron and silicon in a weight ratio boron to silicon within a range from about 3:100 wt:wt to about 100:3 wt:wt, wherein silicon and boron are present in the blend in at least 25 wt %, and wherein the at least one boron source and the at least one silicon source are oxygen free except for inevitable amounts of contaminating oxygen, and wherein the blend is a mechanical blend of particles in and the particles have an average particle size less than 250 &#x3bc;m. The invention relates to a method for producing a permanently joined plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of metal heat exchanger plates having a solidus temperature above 1000&#xb0; C., provided beside each other and forming a plate package with first plate interspaces for a first medium and second plate interspaces for a second medium, wherein the first and second plate interspaces are provided in an alternating order in the plate package, wherein each heat exchanger plate comprises a heat transfer area and an edge area comprising bent edges which extend around the heat transfer area, wherein a first surface of the plates forms a convex shape and a second surface of the plates forms a concave shape, wherein the heat transfer area comprises a corrugation of elevations and depressions, wherein said corrugation of the plates and the bent edges are provided by pressing the plates. The invention also relates to a plate heat exchanger produced by the method.
