Implementations of a mobile platform for image capture device control may use voice recognition. A user may use a mobile platform, such as a mobile application, on a mobile device to interpret and relay voice commands to an image capture device. Voice recognition services may be integrated into the mobile application, the mobile device operating system (OS), or both.

The present disclosure relates to processing a plurality of audio signals. A device receives the plurality of audio signals in the frequency domain and determining an overall attenuation multiplier based on the plurality of audio signals and an overall lookup table that relates decibel values to different overall attenuation multipliers. The device determines an attenuation vector comprising a plurality of bin-specific attenuation multipliers, each bin-specific attenuation multiplier respectively corresponding to a different frequency bin of the plurality of frequency bins. The device scales each bin-specific attenuation value in the attenuation vector with the overall attenuation multiplier, and edits each of the audio signals based on the scaled bin-specific attenuation values in the attenuation vector.

Systems and methods are disclosed for reducing unwanted noise during image capture. The noise may be airborne or structure-borne. For example, airborne sound may be sound that is emitted from a motor of a motorized gimbal into the air, which is then detected by a microphone of an imaging device along with the desired sound. Structure-borne noise may include vibrations from the motor that reach the microphone. Structure-borne noise may lead to local acoustic pressure variation by the microphone or pure vibration of the microphone.

Protected microphone systems may include one or more dampeners, one or more protective layers, or a combination thereof to minimize the vibration sensitivity of a microphone of the protected microphone systems. The dampeners, when present, may be constructed of a foam material or a thin metal material. The protective layer may be a membrane, a mesh, or any suitable material. The protective layer may be air permeable or non-air permeable.

According to one aspect, an electronic device for detecting an audio accessory. The electronic device includes an audio jack having at least two detection terminals. The detection terminals are spaced apart and positioned within a socket of the audio jack so when an audio plug of the accessory is inserted into the socket of the audio jack, the detection terminals will be shorted. The presence of a short between the detection terminals is indicative that the audio accessory is present.

The communication device includes a memory; a first microphone, a connector for receiving data from an accessory device having a second microphone, and a processor interconnected with the memory, the microphone and the connector. Dual microphones can be used to improve noise suppression by better distinguishing between speech and background noise. If the user does not hold the handset according to a prescribed orientation, however, the dual microphone noise suppression can actually do a worse job than a single microphone noise suppression algorithm because of mistakes made distinguishing between speech and noise. Here it is proposed to use an accelerometer to determine the orientation of the phone and use this orientation information in the noise suppression algorithm. Also when a person speaks, the vibrations when the device is held against the head can be used to detect speech.
