A method is provided for operating an internal combustion engine (ICE), typically together with a vehicle. A corresponding ICE and a related computer program product are also provided.

Method of operating an internal combustion engine

A method is provided for controlling an exhaust gas temperature of an engine of a vehicle during interruption of fuel supply to the engine, wherein the engine drives a driveline of the vehicle. The method involves alternating between two or more operational modes, wherein at least one of the operational modes maintains a higher exhaust temperature than the one or more other operational modes.

Method for controlling an exhaust gas temperature

An engine brake system and a method for controlling the exhaust gas pressure of an exhaust system for a vehicle provided with an engine are provided. The system includes a main exhaust gas conduit connected to the turbine of a turbo arrangement and an Exhaust Pressure Governor (EPG) which is used to create a backpressure in the exhaust system so as to function as an engine brake. The turbo arrangement includes a Variable Geometry Turbine (VGT). The Exhaust Pressure Governor is located in a bypass conduit which is connected to the main exhaust conduit upstream the connection to the turbine of the turbo arrangement and the main exhaust conduit includes a valve arrangement downstream the bypass conduit connection for closing the main exhaust conduit. According to the method for controlling the system, the flow passage through the main conduit is open and the flow through the bypass conduit is closed in response to an output control indicating that no engine braking is desired. In case there is an output control indicating that engine braking is desired, the flow passage through the main conduit is closed and the flow through the bypass conduit is open whereby the EPG is controlled to provide a desired backpressure according to the control signals from the control system.

Engine brake for vehicle

Apparatus and method for supplying sealing air to an exhaust turbine () that interacts with an internal combustion engine for turbo-compound operation in a vehicle. Exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine are received in an exhaust system having a supercharger turbine () and which drives a compressor () for the engine combustion air. Residual energy in the exhaust gas flow is recovered via the exhaust turbine () for transfer to the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. The exhaust turbine () is supported in a bearing housing (), which is fed with sealing air via a fluid line (). The exhaust system includes an exhaust brake throttle () having an exhaust gas pressure regulator () for regulating the exhaust brake pressure. The exhaust gas pressure regulator () is connected via a compressed air line () to a compressed air source (), which can be connected in parallel to the bearing housing () via a prioritizing valve () and a compressed air line ().

Exhaust turbine apparatus

Enclosure for liquid lubricated rotating elements (). A first rotating element () with at least one bearing () lubrication fluid drainage point that cooperates with a second rotating element (). A partition wall () is mounted between the drainage point and the second element (), in such a manner that lubrication fluid is substantially prevented from migrating from the drainage point to the second element.

Enclosure for oil lubricated, rotating elements

In a fluid coupling including a casing enclosing an impeller and a turbine wheel which is rotatably mounted in the casing, the turbine wheel is formed on its face turned toward the casing with scrapers designed to scrape off impurities that have settled on the inner wall of the casing.
