A needle assembly for percutaneously infusing fluids to a body and/or withdrawing fluids from a body is provided. The needle assembly comprises a polymeric body having a passageway in a proximodistal direction. A wing assembly is secured to the body, and the wing assembly including first and second wings extending laterally in opposite directions from said body. A hollow needle is arranged in said passageway, such that it extends distally from said body, wherein said needle is press fitted or interference fitted in said passageway.

Needle assembly

A needle tip shielding device, comprising a base plate with a hole extending there through from the proximal side of the base plate to the distal side of the base plate, and at least one resilient arm extending at an attachment point at said base plate () is provided. The resilient arm has a resting state wherein a distal hook of the resilient arm will coincide with a straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through said hole in the axial direction of said base plate. The resilient arm comprises a knob at its distal end, said knob extending laterally from the resilient arm. The knob is shaped with an outer curvature in the transversal plane around an axis parallel to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device and said knob is shaped with an outer curvature in the midsaggital plane around an axis perpendicular to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device.

Needle tip shielding device and catheter hub therefore

Needle shielding systems are disclosed. The needle shielding system comprises a needle, a cover sleeve, and a needle shield. The needle has a needle tip and a needle bulge spaced apart from the needle tip. The cover sleeve is slidably mounted over the needle and comprises an end portion having an internal diameter smaller than the width of the needle bulge, and a cover sleeve shaft extending from the end portion towards the needle tip and having an internal diameter larger than the width of the needle bulge. The needle shield comprises a base plate slidably mounted over the needle adjacent to the end portion, and at least one resilient arm extending from the base plate towards the needle tip. In use the needle shield and cover sleeve move along the needle until the end portion contacts the needle bulge and the cover sleeve shaft and the arm cover the needle tip.

Needle shielding system

A closed IV catheter system, includes a needle shield assembly positioned proximally of a catheter hub and distally of the needle hub. The needle shield assembly cooperates with the catheter hub on the outer circumferential and peripheral surface of the catheter hub. The needle shield adds additional length and width to the closed IV catheter system. An improved manufacturing process with unique materials is also presented.

Needle tip shielding device and fixing arrangement

A spring clip needle tip shielding device for arrangement in a catheter hub of an intravenous catheter assembly is provided. The spring clip needle tip shielding device comprises a base plate with a hole extending therethrough and at least one resilient arm extending at an attachment point at said base plate. The at least one resilient arm has a resting state, from which it may be urged to yield free passage through said hole in an axial direction of said base plate in a tension state, said at least one resilient arm being adapted for clamping a needle tip of a needle extending through said hole when said resilient arm is in said resting state. Any straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through said hole in the axial direction of said base plate coincides with said at least one resilient arm when said resilient arm is in said resting state of said body. The spring clip needle tip shielding device is of a rigid material, and at least a part thereof is coated with a solid lubricant. A catheter assembly including such shielding device is also provided.

The present invention discloses a catheter instrumentcomprising a needle tip shielding device, a catheter huband a needle unit, wherein the needle unitis provided with connecting meansfor connection to the catheter hub, and with connecting meansfor connection to an external device. The needle tip shielding deviceis comprising a body with a rear side, a front side, an outer surfaceconnecting the rear sideand the front side, a holeextending from the rear sideto the front side, and a resilient armextending at an attachment pointfrom the front sideof the body; wherein the resilient armhas a resting stale from which it may be forced to yield free passage through the holein an axial direction of the body, the resilient armbeing adapted for clamping a needle tipof a hollow needleextending through the holein a direction from the rear sideto the front side, when being in the resting state.

Catheter needle tip shielding device

The present invention discloses a catheter instrument () comprising a needle tip shielding device (), a needle (), a needle carrying unit, and a catheter unit, said catheter unit comprising a catheter hub () and a catheter (), and said needle tip shielding device () and said catheter hub (200) being separable from one another, wherein said needle tip shielding device () is kept in contact with said catheter unit upon withdrawal of said needle () via at least one interface surface between said needle tip shielding device () and said catheter unit, and wherein said at least one interface surface of said needle tip shielding device () being at least partly of a first polymeric material and said at least one interface surface of said catheter unit being at least partly of a second polymeric material.

The present invention discloses a catheter instrumentcomprising a needle tip shielding device. The needle tip shielding deviceis comprising a body with a rear side, a front side, an outer surfaceconnecting the rear sideand the front side, a holeextending from the rear sideto the front side, a resilient armextending at an attachment pointfrom the front sideof the body, and a longitudinal arm. The resilient armhas a resting state, from which it may be forced to yield free passage through the holein an axial direction of the body. The resilient armis adapted for protecting a needle tipof a hollow needleextending through the holein a direction from the rear sideto the front side, when the resilient armis in the resting state. The resilient armhas one external point of contact, the point of contact being a contact with the hollow needlewhen the hollow needleis in a forward position. The longitudinal armhas one external contact point, the contact point being a contact with the hollow needlewhen the hollow needleis in a forward position. Any straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through the holein the axial direction of the body coincides with the resilient arm, when the resilient armis in the resting state.
