A paint can and paint brush holder in the form of a tray having means for securing the can to the tray, means to facilitate holding the tray and paint can with one hand as the other hand applies paint from an open can with a brush, the tray having place for setting down one or more wet brushes, and for holding a wipe-up rag.

A coupling particularly suited for brushes for tube cleaning operations includes interfitted shaft and brush coupling members retained by a locking mechanism in axial alignment for rotation in tube cleaning operations. The shaft and brush coupling interfit and the locking mechanism are suited for rapid mounting and replacement of the brush coupling. In a preferred form the locking mechanism comprises a sleeve and spring in nested reglation to each other mounted axially of the coupling. A brush coupling adapter may form part of the coupling for receiving a standard brush element.

An appliance for removing soot and ash from a fireplace including a vacuum source, an intermediate container and tubes establishing a vacuum path from a fireplace through the intermediate container to the vacuum source and a disposable bag within the intermediate container forming part of the vacuum circuit for receiving the fireplace refuse and for cooperating with a flame arrester in the container to prevent migration of hot clinkers from the vacuum cleaner and for providing a handy means for final disposal of fireplace refuse without contaminating the appliance.
