Radio resources like spreading codes and transmission power are optimally allocated to various different types of radio channels supported in the cell including a specialized channel like a high-speed shared channel. One or more measurements made at the base station are provided to the radio resource manager. Such measurements include other-channel power, high speed shared channel code usage, high speed shared channel transport format usage, average active load on the high speed shared channel, empty buffer, excess power, and similar parameters that relate to a high speed shared channel. One or more of these reported measurements may then be used to access, allocate, and/or to regulate resources associated with the base station's cell.

Radio resource management for a high-speed shared channel

According to the invention data in a number of logical downlink intended for one or more mobile terminals are received in a first mapping unit, where at least a first High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity is allocated to these logical downlink channels addressing a group of mobile terminals for allowing transmission of channel data for reception by mobile terminals. A mobile terminal then reads, from a Broadcast Control Channel, necessary information including a High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity allocated to at least one logical downlink channel, where at least said first identity exists among possible identities. It then listens to a high speed shared control channel for the read identity. In case it detects the identity, the terminal follows a scheduling command, receives data on a high-speed downlink shared channel and processes said data.

Method for mapping logical channel on shared channel

A method is provided for bi-casting real time data packets in a mobile system that includes a first Node-B and a second Node-B for communication with a user equipment. The method includes associating a first sequence number with a first real time data packet when sending the first real time data packet to the first Node-B and transmitting the first real time data packet associated with the first sequence number to the first Node-B. The method also includes associating a second sequence number with a second real time data packet when sending the first real time data packet to the second Node-B. wherein the second sequence number is different from the first sequence number and transmitting the first real time data packet associated with the second sequence number to the second Node-B.

A technique for handling radio link failure in a communication network () is provided. A method implementation of this technique comprises the steps of maintaining radio link failure information including the identifier of a user equipment (UE) effected by the radio link failure together with at least one of a time stamp of when the radio link failure was detected and a reference to a cell (C) which was serving the user equipment (UE) before the radio link failure was detected, receiving reconnection information including an identifier of a reconnected user equipment (UE) effected by a radio link failure after the user equipment (UE) is reconnected to the communication network and correlating the radio link failure information with the reconnection information to obtain a correlation result.

Technique for handling radio link failure in a communication network

A network informs a user equipment about the number of usable sub-carriers in a frequency spectrum. Based on this, and its knowledge of a generic size of a resource block, the user equipment is able to determine a number of sub-carriers that are to be allocated to one or more fractional resource blocks. Rules, which may be predefined in the standard, or may be signalled to the user equipment, allow the user equipment to determine which of the usable sub-carriers should be allocated to the fractional resource block or blocks.

An object of the present invention is to provide an improved real-time application performance for user equipments. Method and arrangement in real-time data bi-casting mobile system

Procedures are provided for the establishment of MBMS services in different cells of a cellular telecommunications network, in particular, for maintaining the transmission of MBMS data to a particular user equipment, even when it moves from one cell to another when the service is provided in different ways in different cells. In particular, when a user equipment receives a multimedia data service in a first cell via a certain type of connection (i.e., a point-to-point connection/while requiring an RRC Connection, a point-to-multipoint connection without/while requiring an RRC Connection), and moves to a second cell where the type of connection used to provide the service is different, specific actions are undertaken (e.g., request for an RRC Connection, release of an RRC Connection, etc), depending on the type of connection change carried out. Embodiments for the establishment of the most adequate connection (p-t-p, p-t-m) in a cell are disclosed as well (e.g., by sending a message from a SRNC to a CRNC).

Provision of a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) for a user equipment moving along cells in a cellular mobile communication system

A radio network entity in charge of outer loop power control for a communication with a mobile radio is informed about erroneous data units, requested retransmissions, and/or data units transmission attempts associated with the data units sent by the mobile radio to the radio network. Another radio network entity, which sends a transmission power control signal to the mobile radio to control the mobile's transmit power level based on a target value, detects errors in data units received from the mobile radio and requests retransmission. Information associated with the requested retransmission is used to generate a revised target value. The target value may be revised by an outer loop power controller node or by an outer loop power controller entity in the same node as an ARQ entity that generates the information about erroneous data units, requested retransmissions, and/or data units transmission attempts associated with the data units sent by the mobile radio to the radio network.

Power control and automatic repeat request (ARQ) in a radio communications system

The present invention relates to a system, a Midcom Agent, a method for re-establishing context and a computer program product for performing the steps of said method. In a multi-domain, multi-access IP network there is a need for a method to re-establish context associated with a flow when the end-to-end path changes. The path change is typically due to mobility, but can also be caused by access re-selection (which can be performed for a stationary mobile node as well). Therefore, a method is provided in which the context is moved from one middlebox to at least one selected middlebox via a Midcom Agent. An advantage with the present invention is that it facilitates the transfer of context information from a set of middleboxes to another set of middleboxes. Each set may contain diverse types of such middleboxes.

Method and system for re-establishing context of data packet flows

An enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node of a radio access network stores context information for a user equipment unit which is in a Connected Mode, and initiates a cell update-prompting message which is transmitted the user equipment unit. The stored context information is used by the context-enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node for addressing the cell update-prompting message to the user equipment unit. After the user equipment unit (which is in its Connected Mode) performs the prompted cell update procedure, such user equipment unit (UE) can be paged with a conventional paging message. The invention with its context-enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node is particularly suitable to user equipment units which are in a critical state of the Connected Mode, such as (for example) either a CELL_PCH state or a URA_PCH state of the Connected Mode.
