The present invention relates to a reverberation chamber (RC) comprising at least one antenna head attached at a first side of the chamber and a stirrer adapted to rotate. The RC comprises an arrangement to enable UE antennas to be placed at a location within the RC such that the stirrer is adapted to rotate to simulate a fading condition for the UE antennas in relation to the antenna heads attached at the first side and that RF connections from the antenna heads arc adapted to be connected to a cellular network, such as a closed cellular network.

Apparatus and methods for managing the operation of wireless communication systems are described for transferring inter-exchange information. Interdepending data pertaining to inter-exchange traffic handling events is transferred from the exchange where the data was entered in man-machine-language (MML) by a human operator to other applicable exchanges where the data is automatically entered base upon a subscription between the serving exchange and the target exchange.

A technique for testing a communication system involves establishing a Test System Identification value (TSID value) to represent a test system and associated test activity within the communication system. Mobile stations which are members of the test system are allowed access to test resources in the communication system. In a first embodiment, to provide access to the test resources, the test system can broadcast the TSID value on a control channel. A mobile station receives the control channel and compares the broadcast TSID value with numeric information stored in its internal memory. Upon a match, the mobile station is permitted to camp on the control channel of the test system and use its resources. In a second embodiment, the mobile station may gain access to test resources by broadcasting its TSID value to higher-level nodes of the communication system. Still alternatively, the higher-level nodes of the communication system may independently ascertain the test membership status of the mobile station based on other mobile-identifying information supplied by the mobile station.

System and method for testing a communication system

An antenna test system is used for testing wireless telecommunication systems. In an embodiment of the invention, the test system includes an antenna array comprising a plurality of individual antennas that are deployed in a pattern within a confined testing area such as in a building or laboratory. A plurality of base stations are selectively connected to the antennas via an antenna matrix. When the antenna matrix makes a connection between a base station and an antenna, a cell is activated accordingly. At least one mobile is positioned in fixed location and operates within range of an activated cell wherein various test procedures are run and monitored by a remote computer workstation. The invention is particularly suitable for testing problems associated with handoff procedures and interference by sequentially shifting activated cells relative to the stationary mobiles. The inventive technique provides consistent conditions necessary for repeat testing for use in system optimization.
