A nasal delivery device for and method of delivering substance to a nasal airway of a subject, the delivery device comprising: a nosepiece () for fitting to a nasal cavity of a subject; a mouthpiece () into which the subject in use exhales; a delivery unit, which comprises an actuation part which is manually displaceable to actuate the delivery unit to deliver substance from the nosepiece; and a valve assembly () which is fluidly connected to the nosepiece and the mouthpiece, wherein the valve assembly comprises a body element () and a valve element () which is movably disposed to the body element between closed and open configurations by manual displacement of the actuation part of the delivery unit to provide for an air flow through the nosepiece simultaneously with delivery of substance.

Nasal delivery devices

A nasal delivery device for and method of delivering substance to the middle meatus in a nasal cavity of a subject in the treatment of a condition, in particular an inflammatory or infectious condition, thereof, the delivery device comprising: a nosepiece unit () including a nosepiece () for fitting to a nostril of a subject and a nozzle () through which substance is in use delivered to the respective nasal cavity; and a delivery unit () for delivering substance through the nozzle of the nosepiece; wherein the delivery device is configured to provide for deposition of a significant fraction of the delivered dose on, around and in the vicinity of the middle meatus.

Delivery device and method

A delivery device for and method of modulating a condition relating to social cognition and/or behaviour in a human subject using oxytocin, non-peptide agonists thereof and/or antagonists thereof, comprising: providing a nosepiece to a first nasal cavity of the subject; and providing a supply unit for administering less than 24 IU of oxytocin, non-peptide agonists thereof and/or antagonists thereof through the nosepiece to an upper region posterior of the nasal valve which is innervated by the trigeminal nerve.

Intranasal administration

A nosepiece for delivering substance to a nasal cavity of a subject, the nosepiece comprising a body part which comprises a base portion which defines a flow passage therethrough, and a projection at a distal end of the base portion which at least in part provides a tip of the nosepiece and confers a rigidity in the sagittal direction, which enables the tip to open fleshy tissue at an upper region of the nasal valve and thereby expand an open area of the nasal valve, and a flexibility in a lateral direction, orthogonal to the sagittal plane, which facilitates insertion of the tip into the nasal valve.

A delivery device for and a method of delivering gases to the nasal airway, in particular therapeutic gases and gases in combination with active substances, either as powders or liquids, for enhanced uptake of the active substances.

Delivery of gases to the nasal airway

A nasal delivery device for and a method of delivering substance to a nasal airway of a subject, the nasal delivery device comprising: a mouthpiece () through which the subject in use exhales to cause closure of the oropharyngeal velum of the subject; a nosepiece () for fitting to a nostril of a subject, the nosepiece including a nozzle () through which substance is in use delivered to the nasal airway; and a manually-actuatable substance supply unit () for delivering substance through the nozzle of the nosepiece.

A nasal delivery device for delivering substance to a nasal cavity of a subject, the delivery device comprising: a substance supply unit for supplying a dose of substance to be delivered to the nasal cavity of the subject, the substance supply unit including an inlet and an outlet; a nosepiece unit including a nosepiece for fitting to a nasal cavity of the subject and being in fluid communication with the outlet of the substance supply unit; and a mouthpiece unit including a mouthpiece in fluid communication with the inlet of the substance supply unit and through which the subject in use exhales such as to entrain substance from the container chamber and deliver the same through the nosepiece, and at least one temperature modifier for reducing a temperature of the exhaled air flow such as to reduce the absolute humidity thereof.

Powder delivery devices

A method of delivering a substance, such as one or more of a triptan, a nasal steroid or carbon dioxide gas, to the nasal cavity of a subject, in particular for the treatment of headaches, for example, migraine, or rhinosinusitis, for example, chronic rhinosinusitis, optionally with polyps, the method comprising the steps of fitting a nosepiece to one nostril of the subject, delivering the substance through the nosepiece to the posterior region of the nasal cavity of the subject.

Nasal administration

A nasal delivery device for and method of delivering a substance, preferably comprising oxytocin, non-peptide agonists thereof and antagonists thereof, preferably as one of a liquid, as a suspension or solution, or a powder, to the nasal airway of a subject, preferably the posterior region of the nasal airway, and preferably the upper posterior region of the nasal airway which includes the olfactory bulb and the trigeminal nerve, and preferably in the treatment of neurological conditions and disorders.

A nasal delivery device for and a method of delivering substance to a nasal airway of a subject, the nasal delivery device including a mouthpiece () through which the subject in use exhales to cause closure of the oropharyngeal velum of the subject; a nosepiece () for fitting to a nostril of a subject, the nosepiece including a nozzle () through which the substance is in use delivered to the nasal airway; and a manually-actuatable substance supply unit () for delivering substance through the nozzle of the nosepiece.

A delivery device for and method of delivering a dose of substance for systemic uptake to a nasal cavity of a subject. The delivery device includes a nosepiece unit for insertion into a nasal cavity of a subject and an outlet unit which includes at least one nozzle for delivering substance for systemic uptake substantially only to surfaces in one or both of the anterior region and an anterior section of the posterior region of the nasal cavity of the subject. The delivery device also includes a substance supply unit which is operable to deliver a dose of substance to the at least one nozzle.
