A method for wireless communication is disclosed, wherein an access node is configured to transmit signals using beamforming to a user device, wherein transmitting signals using beamforming comprises transmitting signals using a selected beam of a plurality of available beams, and wherein beam tracking comprises measurements by the user device on a candidate set of beams of the plurality of available beams for beam selection. The method comprises estimating at least one of a distance from the access node to the user device and a velocity parameter of the user device, and adjusting one or more of a beam tracking measurement frequency, a beam tracking measurement periodicity, the beam tracking measurement period, and a beam tracking measurement interval based on at least one of the estimated distance from the access node to the user device and the estimated velocity parameter of the user device. In some embodiments, adjusting one or more of the beam tracking measurement frequency, the beam tracking measurement periodicity, the beam tracking measurement period, and the beam tracking measurement interval is further based on a load of the access node and/or on a priority of the user device. Corresponding apparatus, network node and computer program product are also disclosed.

Beam tracking measurement control

A method for wireless communication is disclosed, wherein an access node is configured to transmit signals using beamforming to a user device, wherein transmitting signals using beamforming comprises transmitting signals using a selected beam of a plurality of available beams, and wherein beam tracking comprises measurements by the user device on a candidate set of beams of the plurality of available beams for beam selection. The method comprises predicting a future trajectory for the user device, and determining the candidate set of beams based on the predicted future trajectory. In some embodiments, determining the candidate set of beams based on the predicted future trajectory comprises giving preference to available beams covering the predicted future trajectory. In some embodiments, determining the candidate set of beams comprises letting a first candidate set of beams associated with a first reliability of the prediction include more available beams not covering the predicted future trajectory than does a second candidate set of beams associated with a second reliability of the prediction when the first reliability is lower than the second reliability. Corresponding apparatus, network node and computer program product are also disclosed.

Determination of candidate set of beams for beam tracking

A method is disclosed for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) operation of an access node serving a plurality of user devices. The method comprises acquiring a speed category for a user device of the plurality of user devices and controlling the MU-MIMO operation in relation to the user device based on the speed category. In some embodiments, controlling the MU-MIMO operation in relation to the user device based on the speed category comprises one or more of: controlling reference signal transmission for the user device based on the speed category and controlling MU-MIMO group affiliation of the user device based on the speed category. In some embodiments, controlling reference signal transmission for the user device based on the speed category comprises controlling a duration of a time interval between subsequent reference signal transmissions for the user device based on the speed category. Corresponding apparatus and network node are also disclosed.

MU-MIMO operation control

Mechanisms are provided for configuring a group of wireless devices capable of communicating with each other over a short-range connection and configured to communicate with a network node over a long-range wireless connection at respective predefined occasions. A method is performed by the network node. The method includes obtaining information that the wireless devices are candidates for being grouped together. The method further includes grouping the wireless devices into the group of wireless devices by distributing the predefined occasions within the group of wireless devices such that all the predefined occasions, for all the wireless devices in the group of wireless devices, do not fully overlap in time. The method further includes transmitting information indicative of the distributed predefined occasions to the wireless devices in the group of wireless devices, thereby configuring the group of wireless devices.

Configuration of a group of wireless devices

A method for handling paging from a network node is performed by a wireless device. The wireless device is part of a group of wireless devices communicating with each other over a short-range connection and communicating with a node over a long-range wireless connection at respective predefined occasions. The predefined occasions are defined by a power save mode configuration collectively determined for the group of wireless devices. The paging, when received during the predefined occasions for the wireless device, is received from the node. The method further comprises transmitting, when the paging is targeted for the wireless device itself, a paging response towards the node. The method further comprises forwarding, when the paging is targeted for another one of the wireless devices in the group of wireless devices, the paging to the targeted wireless device over the short-range connection.

Paging a wireless device in a group of wireless devices

Methods of a first communication device and of a server are disclosed, for enabling inbound Internet protocol (IP) traffic to the first communication device. The server is associated with an operator network and with a wake-up server identity. The first communication device has an operator specific device identity related to the operator network and is subject to network address translation (NAT). A wake-up registration request is transmitted by the first communication device to the server and the server provides a wake-up identifier to the first communication device for triggering a wake-up action for enabling the inbound IP traffic. The wake-up identifier comprises at least a first part indicative of a wake-up device identity and a second part indicative of the wake-up server identity.
