The present invention relates to a method of and a device () for, detecting an operational state of a dishwasher (), in particular activation of extra wash zones and overfill situations. The device () is arranged to operate a motor () driving a dishwasher circulation pump () at at least one rotational speed differing from a nominal rotational speed and measure operating current of the motor () driving the dishwasher circulation pump (). Further, the device is arranged to determine whether the dishwasher () operates in an operational state differing from a nominal operational state based on the measured circulation pump motor operating current.

Detecting operational state of a dishwasher

A dishwasher may include a spray arm arrangement and a washing chamber. The spray arm arrangement may include a spray arm arranged to rotate around a first axis of rotation within said washing chamber. The spray arm may be provided with one or more spray nozzles arranged to spray washing liquid into said washing chamber. The dishwasher may also include a mechanical switch for detecting an angular position of said spray arm. The spray arm arrangement may further include an activating device arranged to rotate with said spray arm, which activating device may include at least one activating structure arranged to cyclically activate said mechanical switch during rotation of said spray arm.

Provided herein is an arrangement for creating a wash zone with in a dishwasher washing chamber. The arrangement may include a spray arm may rotate around an axis; a water pump may feed water to the spray arm; and a support element may rotatably support the spray arm in the washing chamber. The support element may lock the spray arm in at least one position when the pressure in the water fed from the water pump via the support element to the spray arm exceeds a predetermined level. The arrangement may include a control unit arranged to control the operation of the water pump. The control unit may increase the pressure in the water fed from the water pump to the spray arm to lock the spray arm and thereby create the wash zone. A dishwasher including the arrangement and a method for controlling the dishwasher are also provided.

Arrangement for providing a wash zone

Provided herein is an arrangement for a dishwasher for creating a wash zone with a selectable position within a washing chamber of the dishwasher. The arrangement may include a water spray arm rotatably arranged around an axis in the washing chamber, and a support element arranged to support the spray arm in the washing chamber. The support element may lock the spray arm in at least one position within the washing chamber. The arrangement may include a control unit arranged to control the operation of the dishwasher and a user interface for selecting the desired wash zone position within the washing chamber, and arranged to communicate the information to the control unit. The control unit may lock the support element in the selected position to create the wash zone. A dishwasher that includes the arrangement and a method for creating a wash zone with a selectable position are provided.

The present invention relates to a method of, and a device for, detecting clogging of a dishwasher filter. The device is arranged to drain the dishwasher on process water, measure operating current of a motor driving a dishwasher drain pump and determine whether the dishwasher filter is clogged based on the measured drain pump motor operating current.

The invention relates to methods for operating a washer, and in preferred embodiments to a washer having a water tank that is integrally, preferably detachably, formed with the washer, wherein the washer comprises a washing chamber for accommodating goods to be cleaned, said washing chamber having in its lower portion a sump for collecting water during operation of the washer, a water inlet, a circulating pump for circulating water through the washing chamber, and a control unit for controlling a washing cycle carried out by the washer. In accordance with the invention, in this method water is fed via the water inlet into the sump; the pressure within an inlet or outlet conduit of the circulating pump is measured; and based on the pressure measurement the washing cycle is controlled and/or indicator signals are issued to a user of the washer.

The invention relates to a method for operating a washer which comprises a washing chamber for accommodating goods to be cleaned, said washing chamber having in its lower portion a sump for collecting water during operation of the washer, a water inlet connected to a water tank, preferably to a water tank that is integrally, still preferably detachably, formed with the dishwasher, a pump for circulating water through the washing chamber, and a control unit for controlling a washing process carried out by the washer. In accordance dance with a first embodiment of the method of the invention, in this method: water is fed from the tank into the sump by the action of the hydrostatic pressure prevailing within the tank; the pressure within the sump or close to the sump is measured; and based on the pressure measurement the speed of the water flow is monitored and the filling level of the tank is determined, and at least one parameter and/or step of the washing process is controlled and/or indicator signals are issued to a user of the washer.

A turbidity sensor for use in a machine for washing articles, e.g., a washing machine (). The turbidity sensor comprises a light source () for emitting light. The emitted light has a radiant intensity which is variable. The sensor further comprises a light-sensitive element () for receiving light emitted from the light source (). The light source () and the light-sensitive element () are positioned relative to each other so that, when the light source () is in operation, light emitted from the light source () can propagate through a washing liquid contained in the washing machine () on its way to the light sensitive element (). The light-sensitive element () is configured to measure the radiant intensity of light received at the light-sensitive element (). Furthermore, the sensor comprises a controller () which is communicatively coupled to the light source () and the light-sensitive element (). The controller () is configured to adjust the radiant intensity of the light emitted by the light source () in dependence of the measured radiant intensity of light received at the light-sensitive element ().
