A catalytic burner arrangement is provided including at least a catalytic burner unit with a housing having a reaction chamber in which a catalyst is arranged, wherein the catalyst is adapted to react a fuel, particularly a hydrogen containing fluid, with an oxidant, particularly air, for producing heat, the housing having a fluid inlet for supplying a fluid stream into the housing and a find outlet for exiting a fluid stream from the housing, and the catalytic burner arrangement further includes a mixing unit forming a mixing chamber in which fuel and oxidant are mixed, wherein the mixing device includes a fuel inlet, an oxidant inlet and an fuel-oxidant-mixture outlet, and wherein the fluid inlet of the catalytic burner unit merges with the fuel-oxidant-outlet of the mixing unit for transferring the fuel-oxidant-mixture from the mixing chamber to the reaction chamber of the catalytic burner unit wherein the fuel-oxidant-outlet of the mixing chamber is pipe-shaped and extents into the mixing chamber of the mixing unit, and wherein a length of the pipe-shaped fuel-oxidant-outlet extents over the oxidant inlet and/or the fuel inlet.

Catalytic burner arrangement

A catalytic burner arrangement including at least a catalytic burner unit with a housing having a reaction chamber in which a catalyst is arranged is provided wherein the catalyst is adapted to react a fuel, particularly a hydrogen containing fluid, with an oxidant, particularly air, for producing heat, the housing having a fluid inlet for supplying a fluid stream into the housing and a fluid outlet for exiting a fluid stream from the housing, and the catalytic burner arrangement further includes a mixing unit forming a mixing chamber in which fuel and oxidant are mixed, wherein the mixing device includes a fuel inlet, an oxidant inlet and an fuel-oxidant-mixture outlet, and wherein the fluid inlet of the catalytic burner unit merges with the fuel-oxidant-outlet of the mixing unit for transferring the fuel-oxidant-mixture from the mixing chamber to the reaction chamber of the catalytic burner unit wherein the fuel inlet of the mixing chamber is arranged upstream of the oxidant inlet of the mixing unit.

A carbon monoxide oxidation device for oxidizing carbon monoxide contained in a hydrogen rich reformat gas includes a gas stream perturbation device designed as at least one propeller-shaped plate with a plate portion having a surface facing the gas stream and at least one blade which is connected to the plate portion and has a leading edge and an effluent edge, wherein a surface defined between leading edge and effluent edge is inclined in relation to the surface of the plate portion with a predetermined blade inclination angle, thereby defining at least one opening in the plate.

A method and an arrangement for reforming a hydrocarbon fuel such as dimethyl ether (DME), methanol, ethanol, propanol, or any variants or other oxidized fuels is disclosed for generating hydrogen especially for supplying a fuel cell. Furthermore, a fuel cell system is disclosed which includes such an arrangement, especially for providing power to a stationary or mobile power consuming unit like especially an auxiliary power unit (APU) for application in aircraft, ships and vehicles, or as a part of a hybrid drive or as a sole driving unit for, e.g., a ship or a vehicle.

Method and apparatus for removing sulfur from a hydrocarbon fuel. The apparatus includes a combustion reactor () and a sulfur trap () and the combustion reactor () is adapted to operate with an air-to-fuel ratio below 1 and in the presence of steam. The sulfur trap () is located downstream the combustion reactor () and is adapted to remove sulfur compounds formed in the combustion reactor ().

Method for removing sulfur from a hydrocarbon fuel

A fuel-cell system, particularly a fuel-cell system for a drive system of a motor vehicle, includes an autothermic reformer unit configured to generate hydrogen from a raw material. The hydrogen is used to operate a fuel-cell unit disposed downstream of the reformer unit. An oxidation device configured to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide is disposed between the reformer unit and the fuel cell unit. A water injection device is disposed in the oxidation device and is configured to inject water into the oxidation device.

Fuel cell system and method for generating electrical energy using a fuel cell system

A fuel-cell system, particularly a drive system for a motor vehicle, includes an autothermal reformer unit for producing hydrogen from a raw material in order to operate a downstream fuel cell unit. An oxidation device for converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide is arranged between the reformer unit and the fuel-cell unit. The fuel-cell system further includes a two-stage compressor, which supplies a first pressure to a cathode of the fuel cell unit by a first stage and supplies a second pressure to the reformer unit by a second stage.
