An ultrasound probe () includes a probe head (). The probe head includes a transducer array () with a transducing surface (), an instrument guide (), and a light source (). A method includes emitting a light beam, from a light source disposed on and adjacent to a transducer array of an ultrasound imaging probe, in a direction opposite of a transducing surface of the transducer array, at an inside wall of a cavity of a subject or object. A laparoscopic ultrasound imaging probe includes a shaft, a body, an articulating member that couples the probe head, and a handle coupled to the elongate shaft. The articulating probe head includes a transducer array that generates an ultrasound signal that traverses an image plane of the transducer array, an instrument guide, and a light source arranged to emit light in a direction opposite of the image plane.

Ultrasound imaging probe

An ultrasound probe includes a housing. The housing includes a first end, which internally houses: a transducer array and a tracking sensor, and a second end. The housing further includes a second portion extending between the first and second ends. The second portion houses: a first electrically conductive path extending from the transducer array through the second portion to the second end, which is opposite the first end, and a second electrically conductive path extending from the tracking sensor through the second portion to the second end. The probe further includes a single electro-mechanical connector with a physical interface configured to transfer signals carried by the first and second electrically conductive members off the probe. The probe further includes a single cable that routes the first and second electrically conductive members from the second end to the electro-mechanical connector.

An instrument guide () for a probe head () of an ultrasound imaging probe () that includes a transducer array () with a plurality of transducer elements () and an image plane. The instrument guide includes a probe support region () having a long axis () and configured to receive the probe head. The instrument guide further includes a second guide bracket () extending from a second side of the support region in a direction transverse to the long axis. Biopsy system

An ultrasound probe for cavity scanning of a body, comprising: an elongated rod-like member (), with a longitudinal axis (), configured to accommodate at its one end a first transducer (). The first transducer () has a field of view () established by acquiring an image along radial scan lines in a first image plane that coincides with the longitudinal axis (). The field of view covers more than 15 degrees of scan lines at each side of its intersection with the longitudinal axis and more than 15 degrees of scan lines at each side of its intersection with a transverse axis () that lies in the first image plane and is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The probe may comprise a first and second needle guide () arranged to guide an instrument along a path () which intersects with the first field of view (), respectively.

Ultrasound probe

A catheter for insertion into the human body and which includes one or more optionally scanning ultrasonic transducers () and a needle guide, which can be operated from the outside and used for collecting tissue samples from the human body. The catheter includes two substantially semicircular parts (), where a rod () is inserted between said parts and at the end is provided with an ultrasonic transducer (), said two semicircular parts () being kept together by means of an outer tube () passed over the two semicircular parts (), and where the surface of one semicircular part () is provided with a longitudinal groove () for the insertion of a flexible needle () for the extraction of tissue samples. The resulting catheter is very user-friendly and easy to disassemble for disinfecting and sterilizing purposes.
