The end stop is formed on ends of a zipper for a reclosable package or bag by ultrasonically welding the ends of the zipper profiles together so as to form a raised portion. This prevents the slider from being pulled off of the ends of the zipper. Additionally, in the ultrasonic welding step, an indentation is formed into which glue is added thereby forming a lateral protrusion on the side of a zipper profile. This increases the strength of the end stop and increases the slider pull-off force which can be resisted.

End stops for zippers for reclosable packages

The disclosure relates to a semi-soft cap or patch which is secured by adhesive to a slider on a zipper in a reclosable package. This cap or patch prevents the slider from puncturing the web or film of the bag during high pressure pasteurization. Further, the cap or patch is secured to a tear-away header which is formed as a shroud over the zipper. This allows the user to tear off the header which likewise removes the cap or patch from the slider. The header, with the cap or patch still attached thereto, can thereafter be disposed of as a single piece.

Reclosable package with slider zipper shielded for high pressure pasteurization

The present disclosure relates to methods for forming reclosable bags with slider zippers which can be used in high pressure pasteurization. In particular, these methods form reclosable bags with a shroud formed over the slider zipper, with a patch or cap for protecting the slider during high pressure pasteurization. When the user tears the shroud from the bag, the patch or cap remains attached to the shroud but releases from the slider. An alternative embodiment forms an air pocket in the shroud to protect the slider.

A slider that reduces the tendency of a slider-zipper assembly to deactivate under freezer conditions. One embodiment of the slider comprises an opening window comprising a top portion, first and second side portions respectively connected to opposing ends of the top portion of the opening window, and a keeper connected to and projecting downward from the top portion, the keeper being disposed closer to the first side portion than to the second side portion of the opening window; a closing window comprising a top portion, and first and second side portions respectively connected to opposing ends of the top portion of the closing window, the closing window being separated from the opening window by a central zone; and a pair of opposing ridges located in the central zone proximal to the opening window and comprising respective convex surface of curving form. The ridges cam the profiled closure members of the zipper together and cam the male-profiled closure member toward the keeper.

Slider having interior ridge to assist zipper opening

A fastener for a reclosable package comprises a flexible zipper and a string for maintaining zipper closure. The fastener may optionally further comprise a slider for pressing the string into a groove on the zipper and/or extracting the string from the groove. In one embodiment, the fastener comprises first and second zipper parts and a string. The first zipper part comprises a rib. The second zipper part comprises a first body, a second body and a narrow strip connecting the first and second bodies. The first and second bodies and the narrow strip define first and second grooves having respective openings on opposing sides of the second zipper part. The first groove is profiled to receive and hold the string, while the second groove is profiled to receive and hold the rib.

Reclosable packaging having zipper with means for maintaining closure

Bags with reclosable zippers along their mouth ends and having pull flanges extending above the zippers, have attending upwardly from said pull flanges separably attached tamper evident extensions which are adhesively fixed to one another so that it is necessary to separate the tamper evident extensions from the pull flanges along lines of weakening when it is desired to gain access into the bag through the reclosable zipper. A method of and an apparatus for making the bags in linked chains and a method of and apparatus for filling the linked bags and then completing the filled bags are disclosed.

Tamper evident link bags

A dispenser for plastic bags comprises a container having a dispensing opening through which bags can be withdrawn seriatim from the container. The bags are stacked within the container and each lead bag has a trailing end connected by a line of weakened resistance to the leading end of the trailing bag so that when a lead bag is pulled through the opening, cooperating shoulders on the trailing bag at the ends of reclosable fastener assembly brake the container at the opening and cause the bags to separate at the weakened line. The separated trailing bag is disposed at the opening for subsequent convenient withdrawal. The bags may be stacked by top end-connected pairs within the container. Pressure sensitive adhesive retains the container on a support against displacement when pulling bags from the container. The container may carry a replaceable closure flap for the dispensing opening.

Dispenser for plastic bags

A bag structure especially adapted to be made from bag body web material, and fusibly incompatible extruded plastic zipper, comprises a pair of zipper strips having reclosable zipper profiles located below upper ends of pull flanges. Fused connecting anchors extend from the zipper strips through holes in the material of the bag body material and thereby permanently attach the zipper strips to the bag body material. Anchorage of the bag body material may be in groove sockets provided by the zipper strips. The zipper strips may be located on the inside or the outside of the bag structure. A pilfer evident seal may be provided along the pull flanges and require destruction of the seal to gain access into the bag through the reclosable zipper. Method of making the bag structure is also disclosed.

An apparatus for processing a bag chain to fill individual reclosable bags therealog with the chain having spaced rocket openings along the top including a sprocket for interengaging with the openings to draw the chain forwardly and to vertically support the chain, bag top spreader members including idler sprockets interengageable with the chain holes to vertically support the chain with pads opposite the idler sprockets to pull the bag tops open, means for controlling the distance the bag top is opened, and a common drive for pulling the bag chain forwardly and operating the bag opening means.

Link bag and opening fixture

A container dispenser assembly containing stacks of flat bags with their tops adjacent and releasably interconnected and held in a rectangular cardboard container having a central tear strip extending over three walls with the tear strip removable and the separated sections of the container foldable about a fourth wall. In one form a thread is anchored within the container to be drawn between the tops of the bags and separate them. When the container is folded open, the bags may be withdrawn one by one from the two halves of the container.

Dispensing of bags initially joined head-to-head

Bags in a series have first and second end portions with the bags being separated from one another except for links that connect the first end portions of the bags into a continuous chain, which is wound upon itself on a storage reel. Such winding may be in a vertical spiral fashion, or it may be by engagement by a separable continuous strip, such as a ribbon tape across the second end portions of the bags as reeled upon a core, thereby maintaining the bags in the chain substantially free from skewing relative to one another. Method and apparatus for effecting the reeling of the bag chain are also disclosed.

Maintaining single link chain bags against skewing

Bags especially adapted to be made from fusibly incompatible bag body web material and extruded plastic zippers comprising in each instance a pair of zipper strips having reclosable zipper profiles located below upper ends of pull flanges, and fused connecting anchors extending from the zipper strips through holes in the material of the bag body and thereby permanently attaching the zipper strips to the bag body. The portions of the bag body material having the anchor holes may be received in groove sockets in the zipper strips, where the zipper strips are located at the inside of the bag. The zipper strips may be located on the outside of the bag and sealably pinch material of the bag body material in and between interlocking profiles, with ends of the zipper strips secured to the sides of the bag by fused anchors extending through holes in side seams on the bag body. Method of making the bags is disclosed.

Attachment of plastic zipper to incompatible bag wall web

A plastic separable fastener strip, and assembly of such strip with a substrate, and a method of attaching such strip to a substrate, comprising the provision of and utilization of fusible ribs on the base surface of the fastener strip to provide a bonding layer for bonding the strip to the substrate. Reducing the ribs into fusible condition without heat distortion of the remainder of the fastener strip and without heat distortion or damage of the substrate, provides a bonding layer when the fused ribs of the fastener strip are pressed together with the substrate. A simple apparatus and method are provided for effecting the bonding by fusion of the fusion ribs.

Fusible rib bonding of fasteners to substrate

Double funnel bag material and method, wherein continuous length plastic film material is formed into a plurality of coextensive funnel strips connected together as formed. Each of the funnel strips is provided along an edge which is remote from the edge connection with the companion strip, with a zig-zag edge defining a series of funnel pockets therealong. The funnel strips have bag wall film attached thereto. Then after separation of the strips and bag wall material assembly along the edge connection, the strips can be rolled-up for future use, or immediately used, by forming into individual bag sections to be filled, and the bag sections separated from the respective strips.

Double funnel bag material and method

Material and method for making three reclosable bag sections from separable fastener equipped web, comprising folding opposite free portions of the web upon themselves and folding an intervening portion of the web upon itself and thereby providing three bag sections in a generally Y orientation. Separably interlockable fastener profiles adjacent to juncture of the three sections being arranged to provide a respective bag top separable profile fastener assembly along each of the bag sections. The bag sections are separable from one another at the juncture. Pull flanges may be provided along the separable fastener assembly of each of the sections.
