An airbag system for a restraint system having an inflatable airbag, and a gas generator which is fluidically connected to the airbag and which inflates the airbag when activated with a gas, the airbag has a retainer for retaining on a safety belt of the safety belt device, the airbag has a main chamber fluidically connected to the gas generator and which, in a fastening position of the airbag system predetermined by the retainer, rests against the safety belt, and at least one additional chamber is provided on the side of the main chamber facing away from the safety belt and is separated from the main chamber by means of a partition wall, and at least one opening, via which the additional chamber is fluidically connected to the main chamber, is provided in the partition wall.

The invention relates to a belt retractor for a seat belt of a motor vehicle, comprising a belt shaft which is rotatably mounted in a housing frame, a profiled head which can be locked relative to the housing frame, and a force-limiting device, wherein the force-limiting device is coupled on the one hand to the profiled head and on the other hand to the belt shaft and wherein the force-limiting device allows a force-limited rotation of the belt shaft relative to the locked profiled head, characterized by an actively releasable decoupling device.

A vehicle seat and an airbag system, the seat having a backrest and a squab, extending from the backrest in a longitudinal direction, the backrest extending in height from the squab at a first lower position to a second upper position arranged proximal to shoulders of an occupant in a seated position, the airbag system having an airbag to receive inflating gas from an inflator to inflate the airbag, in which the airbag includes an upper region that extends over a head of the occupant in the seated position and a lower region that extends between a first and second side of the backrest and around a mid-section of the seated occupant, the airbag system having a tether system interconnecting the seat at the second upper position of the backrest and airbag to restrain the lower region of the airbag in the inflated configuration in the longitudinal direction.

Vehicle airbag system

A seat belt retractor with a switchable load limiting device for a safety belt of a motor vehicle with a belt shaft and a locking device which upon actuation locks the belt shaft in the belt extraction direction. The load limiting device is located in the force flow between the belt shaft and the locking device between the load limiting levels. A switching device is used for switching the load limiting device. The switching device includes a gas generator for releasing a gas flow into a pressure chamber and an expandable hollow pot which can be driven by the gas flow. The expandable hollow pot is attached to the gas generator in a gas-proof manner and forms the pressure chamber.

A self-locking seat belt retractor has the following components: a locking device () which can be actuated in a vehicle-sensitive and/or in a belt webbing-sensitive manner, a belt shaft (), and a two-stage load limiting device () located within the force flow between the locking device () and the belt shaft (). The load limiting device () includes a first, high-load limiting element () and a second, low-load limiting element (). The load limitation level can be switched from high to low during load limitation. A third load limiting element () parallel to the second load limiting element () between the locking device () and the belt shaft () is formed by at least two structural elements (--), at least one of which is sheared off during the load limitation.
