A fluid pressure driven, high frequency percussion hammer for drilling in hard formations is presented. The hammer piston () of the percussion hammer has a relatively large and longitudinally extending bore () that provides minimal flow resistance for a drilling fluid flowing through the bore () during the return stroke of the hammer piston (). The bore () is closeable in the upstream direction by a valve plug () that follows the hammer piston () during the stroke. The valve plug () is controlled by a relatively long and slender valve stem () that is mechanically able to stop the valve plug () by approximately 75% of the full stroke length of the hammer piston () and separates the plug () from a seat ring (). Thus the bore () opens up such that the bore fluid can flow there trough, and the inherent tension spring properties of the valve stem () returns the valve plug () so rapid that it will be good through flow during return of the hammer piston (). A magnet () retains the valve stem () in place.

An apparatus for gripping a cylindrical member is provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a clamping device having clamping dies that enable the clamping device to grip a tubular string. The clamping dies have clamping faces configured to adapt to curvature of the tubular string when the clamping dies engage the tubular string via the clamping faces to facilitate use of the clamping device with tubular strings of different external diameters. Slip device for suspending a drill or casing string

Arrangement in a hose connector of a riser provided between a wellhead and a floating surface installation. One or more hoses form a flexible fluid communicating connection between an upper portion of the riser and the floating surface installation. The first end portion of at least one fluid conduit is fixed to the riser by an upwardly directed, first pipe muzzle and is provided with a rotatable connecting sleeve. Each of one or more flexible hoses is connected to a conduit spool of a connecting assembly provided with a second and pipe muzzle that is arranged for releasable mating with the first end portion of the fluid conduit.
