A diffractive optical element is provided that includes at least two layers with different etching speeds for dry etching process. The diffractive optical element has a substrate of glass and a microstructure layer arranged on the substrate. The ratio of dry etching speed in thickness direction of the substrate to that of the microstructure layer is no more than 1:2 so that the substrate functions as an etching stop layer. The ratio of dry etching speed in horizontal direction of the substrate is substantially equal to that of the microstructure layer. The composition of glass includes, but is not limited to, AlO3, alkaline material (MO) and alkaline earth material (MO), where the weight percentage of AlO+MO+MO>=5%.

Diffractive optical element and method for manufacturing the same

The present disclosure relates to glass articles, a method of making the glass articles, and uses of the glass articles. The glass article has a UV-transmittance of more than 90% at 350 nm and at 500 nm and a total amount of Si, BOand AlOof at least 75 mol %. A method for making a bonded article, wherein a thin glass substrate is bonded on a support substrate in the absence of any interlayer by an electrostatic adhesion process with the assistance of external pressure, the pressure is applied constantly or stepwise during the adhesion process by use of a tool such as a roll or a wheel or other movable device with curved surface. The bonded article has no defects, e.g. bubbles or inclusions, in the bonded interface, which benefits transportation of the thin glass substrate and its post-processing as well. Such defect-free bonded article is also disclosed. Pressure supported electrostatic adhesion, initiated by electrostatic charges adhesion of a two members, e.g. a substrate member and a support member, is enabled to minimize, prevent and exclude defects, distortion between the adhered surfaces.

Bonded article of thin glass on support substrate, preparation method and use thereof

A low CTE boro-aluminosilicate glass having a low brittleness for use in wafer-level-packaging (WLP) applications is disclosed. The glass comprises a composition in mol-% of SiO: 60-85, AlO: 1-17, BO: 8-20, NaO: 0-5, KO: 0-5, MgO: 0-10, CaO: 0-10, SrO: 0-10, and BaO: 0-10. An average number of non-bridging oxygen per polyhedron (NBO) is equal to or larger than &#x2212;0.2 and a ratio BO/AlOis equal to or larger than 0.5. The NBO is defined as NBO=2&#xd7;O/(Si+Al+B)&#x2212;4. A glass carrier wafer made from the low CTE boro-aluminosilicate glass and a use thereof as a glass carrier wafer for the processing of a silicon substrate are also disclosed, as well as a method for providing a low CTE boro-aluminosilicate glass.

A method for producing an ultrathin chemically toughened glass article is provided that includes: providing an ultrathin glass sheet with a first surface and a second surface joined by at least one edge, having a thickness between the first and the second surface, chemically toughening the ultrathin glass sheet to produce an ultrathin toughened glass article. The method includes applying an edge pre-treatment to the at least one edge, preferably all edges, of the ultrathin glass sheet prior to the chemical toughening in order to reduce and/or blunt edge defects and to increase resistance to breakage of the ultrathin glass sheet during the chemical toughening.

A glass ribbon in the form of a glass roll is provided that is optimized with respect to the requirements of a long service life and at the same time compact dimensions. A bending radius on the inner side of the thin glass roll is determined by performing breakage tests on samples of the glass material, statistical parameters are determined on the basis of the breakage tests, and the statistical parameters are converted into a range of bending radii which meet the requirements on service life and the most compact dimensions possible of the thin glass roll.
