A power management integrated circuit (PMIC) chip provides power loss protection to an application device. The PMIC chip has several storage pins that each receives a set of storage capacitors that are charged using power from a power source during normal operation. An application device receives power from the power source during normal operation and receives power from an operational set of storage capacitors during power loss. A failing set of storage capacitors is disconnected from an operational set of storage capacitors and from the PMIC chip. The operational set of storage capacitors remains connected to the PMIC chip to provide power loss protection.

A power supply having at least one PMIC provides flexible control to the power manage systems. The PMIC has an enable pin configured to receive a control signal, and a clock pin configured to generate and/or receive a series of clock pulses, so as to facilitate the operation of the PMIC.

A power supply covering both power sharing and power backup functions run in a more efficient and flexible way. The power supply adopts a power sharing converter coupled between a first bus terminal and a second bus terminal, so that if one of the bus terminals provides insufficient power, the other bus terminal kicks in by way of the power sharing converter to provide power support. In addition, a storage capacitor may also kick in to provide power support if one of the bus terminals provide insufficient power via or not via the power sharing converter.

In the power supply, a first eFuse is used to deliver a first input power source to a first load at a first bus terminal, and a second eFuse is used to deliver a second input power source to a second load at a second bus terminal. When the current flowing through one eFuse hits its current limit threshold, the other input power source kicks in to provide power support. The current limit threshold of each eFuse is set to be lower than its maximum rated current.

An electrical circuit has a first integrated AC switch circuit connecting a first load to an AC voltage when the first integrated AC switch circuit is ON and a second integrated AC switch circuit connecting a second load to the AC voltage when the second integrated AC switch circuit is ON. The first integrated AC switch circuit generates a first DC voltage across a first capacitor and provides a pulse signal. When a VCCE pin of the second integrated AC switch circuit is coupled to a reference ground, a second capacitor is charged by the second integrated AC switch circuit to provide a second DC voltage. And when the VCCE pin of the second integrated AC switch circuit is floating or pulls high, the second capacitor is charged by the pulse signal.

Power supply and power supplying method with power backup and power sharing

A switch mode power supply (SMPS) with control scheme selection for high-voltage configuration and low-voltage configuration of the SMPS. The SMPS operates in at least a charge state or a release state. The SMPS has a mode control module receiving a mode setting signal indicative of the configuration of the SMPS and a state indication signal indicative of the state of the SMPS. The SMPS selects a boost control module or a buck control module to control the SMPS according to the mode setting signal and the state indication signal.

Switch mode power supply supporting both a bi-directional converter of a first configuration and that of a second configuration

An AC switch circuit coupled between an AC input signal and an AC load has a first switch, a second switch, a driving circuit, and a power generation circuit. The first switch blocks a first half-cycle of the AC input signal when turned OFF, and the second switch blocks a second half-cycle of the AC input signal when turned OFF. The driving circuit provides a driving signal to control the first switch and the second switch based on an enable signal. The power generation circuit provides a voltage signal to power the driving circuit. The power generation circuit stores energy from the AC input signal when the first switch and the second switch are turned OFF, and the power generation circuit is disconnected from the AC input signal when the first switch and the second switch are turned ON.

AC switch circuit and associated control method

A switching converter has an input port for receiving an input voltage and an output port for providing an output voltage. The switching converter has a power stage, an energy stored circuit, a power conversion circuit and a control circuit. The power stage has an input terminal coupled to the input port and an output terminal coupled to the output port. The energy stored circuit is charged by the input voltage and provides a first bias voltage which maintains a predetermined time period after the input voltage is less than a predetermined voltage level. The power conversion circuit provides a second bias voltage. The control circuit provides a control signal to control the power stage and discharges the output voltage based on a discharge control signal, wherein the control circuit is powered by either the first bias voltage or the second bias voltage.

The present invention discloses a power supply. The power supply may comprise an input power terminal, a capacitor module, a first converter module and a second converter module. The first converter module may have a first terminal and a second terminal, wherein the first terminal is coupled to the input power terminal and the second terminal is coupled to the capacitor module. The second converter module may comprise an input and an output, wherein the input of the second converter module is coupled to the input power terminal, and the output of the second converter module is configured to supply a load.

The present disclosure discloses a switching mode power supply with bi-direction buck and boost control. The switching mode power supply enters boost mode when an input signal is higher than a preset threshold to pump the input signal to a higher level; and the switching mode power supply enters buck mode when the input signal breaks down to release the stored energy.
