A flow limiter for a cut-off valve of a hydraulic pumping system and a hydraulic system using such a flow limiter. The flow limiter provides for limiting a flow through a cut-off valve. The flow limiter for a cut-off valve of a hydraulic pumping system includes a valve body with a hollow channel. The hollow channel has a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and the fluid inlet is in fluid communication with a discharge line of the cut-off valve in a mounted state of the flow limiter. A valve element is slidably arranged within the channel and can transition from a first position towards a second position, if a predefined fluid pressure threshold is exceeded at the fluid inlet. The valve element is arranged in the hollow channel so that in the second position a fluid flow from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet is larger than in the first position.

Systems and method for operating a hydraulic swing system are described herein. The hydraulic swing system may include a first hydraulic pump and a second hydraulic pump in fluid communication with one another. A first hydraulic motor configured to drive rotation of the hydraulic swing system and may be in fluid communication with the first hydraulic pump and the second hydraulic pump. A controller configured to increase a rate of rotation of the hydraulic swing system in a first direction by: engaging the first hydraulic pump to provide a hydraulic fluid through the first hydraulic path to the first hydraulic motor to drive rotation of the hydraulic swing system; and engaging the second hydraulic pump to provide hydraulic fluid through the first hydraulic path to the first hydraulic motor to drive rotation of the hydraulic swing system.

The present invention pertains to method for monitoring operation of a hydraulic system, in particular of a hydraulic system of a working machine, having at least one hydraulic actuator. The method comprises a step of determining a predefined operating condition of the hydraulic system; a step of determining an input power parameter being indicative of a power provided by an engine to the hydraulic system during the predetermined operating condition; a step of determining an output power parameter being indicative of a power provided by the hydraulic actuator during the predetermined operating condition; and a step of determining a fault condition of the hydraulic system based on the input power parameter and the output power parameter.

A work machine includes a frame, a traction system supporting the frame, an implement system supported by the frame, and a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system includes a hydraulic oil tank, a control circuit, an oil cooler, and a cooler bypass valve assembly. The cooler bypass valve assembly is connected to the control circuit by a control circuit return line, and includes an unloading valve configured to allow hydraulic oil to flow from the control circuit return line to the hydraulic oil tank if a pressure of hydraulic oil in the control circuit return line exceeds a first threshold, a backpressure valve configured to allow hydraulic oil to flow from the return line to the oil cooler through an oil cooler inlet line if a pressure of hydraulic in the oil control circuit return line exceeds a second threshold, and an orifice configured to limit the flow of hydraulic oil through the backpressure valve.

The piston can have an end wall opposite the end wall of the housing, where the end wall of the piston can have at least one orifice that extends from a first side of the end wall of the piston to a second side of the end wall of the piston.

Cavitation that occurs within a pump of a machine, such as truck or other work machine, can potentially damage the pump and/or other components of the machine. The machine can have a cavitation monitor configured to detect cavitation and/or cavitation damage associated with the pump based on vibration data, speed data associated with mechanical movements of the pump, and operating data associated with the machine overall. If the cavitation monitor detects cavitation and/or cavitation damage, the cavitation monitor can cause corresponding alerts to be displayed to a machine operator or other user.

A hydraulic system is disclosed. The hydraulic system may include a source of pressurized fluid; a tank; a hydraulic actuator including a first chamber and a second chamber; a first independent metering valve disposed between and fluidly connected to the source, the tank, and the first chamber of the hydraulic actuator; and a second independent metering valve disposed between and fluidly connected to the source, the tank, and the second chamber of the hydraulic actuator. Each of the first independent metering valve and the second independent metering valve may include a spool and a valve actuator disposed on one side of the spool. The valve actuator may include a push coil, a pull coil, and a force feedback mechanism configured to balance a force of the push coil and the pull coil.

Engine anti-idling and restart may be implemented in a machine having a power source, a movable work tool, a pump driven by the power source, an actuator receiving fluid from the pump and moving the work tool, a high-pressure fluid reservoir, and an assist motor operatively connected to the power source. Engine restart may include detecting operator input to start the power source, and fluidly connecting the fluid reservoir to the assist motor to assist in starting the power source in response to detecting the operator input. Prior to shutting down the power source during anti-idling, fluid from the pump may be input to the assist motor, pressurized and communicated to the high-pressure fluid reservoir in response to determining that idle condition exists and a reservoir charge pressure is less than a reservoir minimum restart pressure needed to restart the power source.

Integration of swing energy recovery and engine anti-idling systems

A fluid system for a machine that includes a linkage. The fluid system includes an actuator, an accumulator, a pilot circuit, and a pressure reducing valve. The actuator is configured to manipulate the linkage. The accumulator is configured to store a fluid discharged by the actuator under pressure. The pilot circuit is fluidly coupled to the accumulator and is configured to receive the fluid from the accumulator. Further, the pressure reducing valve is positioned between the accumulator and the pilot circuit to regulate the pressure of the fluid delivered to the pilot circuit from the accumulator.

Fluid systems for machines with integrated energy recovery circuit

A hydraulic system for a machine is disclosed. The system may have a pump and a motor driven by pressurized fluid from the pump. An accumulator is configured to receive fluid discharged from the motor and to discharge fluid to the motor. The system may include a first valve to selectively communicate the higher pressure of conduits coupled between the pump and motor to the accumulator. A second valve and a third valve can be used to facilitate charging and discharging of the accumulator. The system may include a controller configured to implement a plurality of modes of operation, which each mode of operation may include a different combination of motor deceleration and motor acceleration segments during which the accumulator receives and discharges fluid, respectively. An input may be used to determine the segment of the work cycle.

The inverse resolver is configured to receive a first pressure signal from the independent metering valve circuit and a second pressure signal from a load-sense hydraulic system and output a third pressure signal. The signal conditioning element is configured to receive the third pressure signal and output a forth pressure signal configured to control a pump fluidly coupled to the load-sense hydraulic system and the independent metering valve circuit.

An energy recovery system for a machine having a movable work tool, a swing motor to swing the work tool about a vertical axis, a pump providing pressurized fluid to the swing motor, a power source outputting power to drive the pump, and a controller. The energy recovery system may include a first accumulator, a swing charge valve selectively connecting the swing motor to the first accumulator, an assist motor operatively connected to the power source, and a discharge selectively connecting the first accumulator to the assist motor. The swing charge valve may fluidly connect the swing motor to the first accumulator when fluid pressure from the swing motor is greater than a charge set pressure. The controller may cause the discharge valve to fluidly connect the first accumulator with the assist motor when the power demand on the power source is greater than a minimum assisted power demand.

A hydraulic system is disclosed for assisting starting of a machine having an engine. The hydraulic system may include a work tool, a pump driven by the engine to pressurize fluid, and an actuator configured to receive pressurized fluid from the pump and move the work tool. The hydraulic system may also include an accumulator configured to selectively receive pressurized fluid from the pump and from the actuator, an electric starter configured to start the engine, and a motor selectively supplied with fluid from the accumulator to assist the electric starter in starting the engine.
