A process for pyrolysis of a mixed plastic stream that contains polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is provided in which the chloride from PVC is removed from an initial melting reactor that melts the mixed plastic stream. Chloride is removed in a vapor stream from the initial melting reactor with additional chloride removed from addition of sorbents to the pyrolysis reactor and in adsorbent beds downstream of the pyrolysis reactor. The pyrolysis reactor has a configuration comprising two cylindrical ring structures, an inner cylindrical ring structure within an outer cylindrical ring structure wherein a circulation liquid supply stream enters said pyrolysis reactor tangentially relative to a ring edge of said two cylindrical ring structures and wherein solid particles move in a downward direction to a bottom of the pyrolysis reactor.

Hydroprocessing reactor internals height reduction is achieved by placing a mixing chamber above the collection tray. The mixing chamber has spillways on the top (top spillways) and the side of the mixing chamber (side spillways) for fluid entry. The design of the spillways has a significant impact on pressure drop. The pressure drop is reduced by having wide shallow spillways rather than narrow and deep spillways without impacting mixing performance. With both side and top spillways, the height of the mixing chamber can be reduced significantly with minimal impact on fluid mixing and pressure drop.

A fluid distribution device is presented for the collection and distribution of fluid between reactor beds. According to various aspects, the device includes a collection tray, a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the collection tray, a rough distribution tray in fluid communication with the mixing chamber, and a fine distribution tray in fluid communication with the rough distribution tray. The rough distribution tray includes a vapor chimney.

The invention involves a process that reduces the potential for catalyst fluidization in a reduction vessel of a continuous catalyst regeneration system. The gas exit area from the catalyst reduction zone is increased by ventilating the cylindrical baffle of the upper reduction zone. This provides an increased exit cross-sectional area for the upper reduction gas to escape and reduce the overall exit velocity of the combined upper and lower reduction gases and reduces the potential for catalyst fluidization.

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for contacting one or more fluids in a vessel. The process may include passing one or more fluids into a chamber from an overhead tray and providing a conduit outside the chamber coupling a respective spillway to a respective hole for increasing contact time inside the conduit. Typically, the chamber forms one or more sidewalls forming at least one hole and the overhead tray forms at least one spillway.
