Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for supplying voltage to a load and battery. In one implementation, a first regulated DC-to-DC converter is electrically connected to a first energy source to down convert a first voltage supplied by the first energy source. A load is electrically connected to the first regulated DC-to-DC converter to receive the down converted first voltage. A second regulated DC-to-DC converter is electrically connected to the first regulated DC-to-DC converter to regulate the down converted first voltage to a second voltage. A second power source is electrically connected to the second regulated DC-to-DC converter to charge the second power source using the second voltage, and the second power source is switchably connectable to the load.

The invention features compositions and methods for site-specific modification of proteins by incorporation of an aldehyde tag. Enzymatic modification at a sulfatase motif of the aldehyde tag through action of a formylglycine generating enzyme (FGE) generates a formylglycine (FGly) residue. The aldehyde moiety of FGly residue can be exploited as a chemical handle for site-specific attachment of a moiety of interest to a polypeptide.

Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for supplying voltage to a load and battery. In one implementation, an unregulated DC-to-DC converter is electrically connected to a first energy source to down convert a first voltage supplied by the first energy source. A load is electrically connected to the unregulated DC-to-DC converter to receive the down converted first voltage. A regulated DC-to-DC converter is electrically connected to the unregulated DC-to-DC converter to regulate the down converted first voltage to a second voltage. A second power source is electrically connected to the regulated DC-to-DC converter to charge the second power source using the second voltage, and the second power source is switchably connectable to the load.

Converter architecture

A method for merging face clusters includes analyzing a set of digital images, grouping instances of faces within the set of digital images into a set of face clusters, each of the face clusters corresponding to a particular person, and determining a probability that a person associated with a first face cluster from the set of face clusters is the same person associated with a second face cluster of the set of face clusters. The probability is based on both a social similarity between the first face cluster and the second face cluster in addition to a facial similarity between the first face cluster and the second face cluster.

Examples disclosed herein relate to creating an image collage in a semantic theme based shape. For example, a processor may determine a semantic theme associated with an image collection, select a shape associated with the semantic theme, and create a collage of at least a subset of the image collection in the selected shape. The processor may output the created collage.

A system for web-based video browsing includes a web server and a web client. The web server and the web client cooperatively provide a set of video browsing functions. The video browsing functions enable a user of the web client to browse a source video and select a video frame from the source video. The distribution of the video browsing functions between the web server and the web client may be adapted to a communication speed between the web server and the web client.

Metadata placeholders are used for distributed processing. The metadata placeholders are added to digital objects. The placeholders are filled with requests to perform certain downstream processing on the objects. The placeholders are at least partially empty so they can be filled in by nodes that perform the downstream processing.

A method of quantifying social affinity from multiple images includes identifying each image showing both a first person and a second person and determining a weighted affinity value between the first person and the second person. The weighted affinity value is determined based on a total number of persons appearing in each identified image, a physical distance between the first person and the second person represented in each identified image, and a total number of identified images.

A method, comprising receiving query data including an image of a person, and detecting a face of the person in the image to create a detected face, generating face data and clothing data using the detected face including a measure of characteristics of the face and clothing of the person, and retrieving images and video for the person and a related group of people by comparing the face data and clothing data of the person with multiple measures for the characteristics of faces and clothing generated from a set of images and video in which other people appear wherein co-appearances of the person with at least some of the other people are used to retrieve content in which the person and people from the related group appear.

A digital image search and retrieval system includes a query parser and a response composer. The query parser is configured to parse a query obtained from a client, the query including at least one metadata criterion, search a metadata database for one or more digital images satisfying the metadata criterion, and search a digital image database for the one or more digital images. The response composer is configured to compose a response including the one or more digital images from the digital image database and their corresponding metadata from the metadata database, and enable the client to render the response in accordance with one or more user preferences.
