Processing unit, system comrising a consumable and use of a consumable

A beverage maker includes a boiler for containing and heating water and a normally opened thermostat having a sensing member for sensing a temperature of the water, wherein the sensing member is located at a certain distance with respect to a water inlet of the boiler. When the water is heated, and the temperature of the water exceeds a set point of the thermostat, the thermostat closes. As a result, a pumping action is started, where hot water is forced to flow out of the boiler, and where cold water is forced to flow into the boiler. When a front of the cold water reaches the sensing member of the thermostat, the thermostat is triggered to open again, and the pumping action is terminated. By means of the thermostat, the quantity of hot water that is used for the purpose of making a beverage is accurately controlled.

A beverage maker () comprises a water tank () for containing and supplying water during a beverage making process, and a pump () for pumping the water out of the water tank (). A beverage maker for making a hot beverage includes a boiler for heating a quantity of water, and a pump. When the beverage maker is operated, a heating element of the boiler is activated, and the water inside the boiler is heated. When the temperature of the water has reached a predetermined value, a thermostat which is arranged in an electronics circuit for energizing the pump is closed, and a pumping action is started. As a result, water exits the boiler, and passes a thermostat which is arranged downstream of the boiler, and which is arranged in an electronics circuit for energizing the heating element. Under the influence of the hot water, a set point of this thermostat is reached, and this thermostat opens, so that the electronics circuit for energizing the heating element is interrupted, and the heating element is deactivated.

A boiler () for heating water to steam comprises a boiler housing () having a bottom wall (), a top wall () and a circumferential wall () extending between these walls (). When the boiler () is mounted in a steam generating device for generating steam and supplying steam to an appliance such as a steam iron (), the boiler () is given an inclined orientation. In a lower portion () of the top wall () of the boiler housing (), an inlet opening () for letting in water to a boiler space () which is enclosed by the boiler housing () is arranged. When water is supplied through the inlet opening (), the water lands on a lower zone () of the circumferential wall () and flows further in a downward direction, along the circumferential wall (). As a result, the water is pre-heated when it reaches the water which is already present in the boiler space (), and there is no danger of the steam production getting interrupted.
