An MR system and method for tracking a device of an interventional procedure within a scan subject is disclosed. At least two MR projections of the device are acquired, from which 3D coordinates of the device are determined. Subsequent image acquisition is adjusted with respect to the coordinates of the device to guide movement thereof towards target anatomy. The present system and method provide the ability to locate and visualize continuous portions of an interventional device in 3D, and do not require the use of embedded RF localizing coils.

System and method for image-based interventional device tracking and scan plane guidance

A system and method for MR magnetic field mapping includes a computer programmed to acquire a first data point at a first location in a first phase image data set, a second data point at the first location in a second phase image data set, a third data point at the first location in a third phase image data set. The first, second, and third phase images are acquired using a first, second, and third TE, respectively. Phase wrapping does not occur among the first and second phase image data sets; however, phase wrapping does occur among the second and third phase image data sets. The computer is also programmed to determine a magnetic field inhomogeneity, wherein the determination of the magnetic field inhomogeneity is based on the first, second, and third data points.

Three-point method and system for fast and robust field mapping for EPI geometric distortion correction

A real-time imaging and visualization method and system that allows multiple field-of-view imaging on multiple receiver channels is disclosed. The method and system implement a semi-bit reversed modified phase-encoding scheme to acquire identical data over all receiver channels, and to reconstruct independently on each channel an image thereby providing multiple FOV images. The method and system provide for real-time catheter tracking where separate receiver channels collect anatomical roadmap data, guidewire data, and catheter data. The present invention uses a loopless antenna to acquire projection images thereby allowing the entire antenna and structures within its diameter of sensitivity to appear as a bright signal and a long narrow connected region. The present invention allows for very narrow FOV imaging for guidewire and catheter channels as well as full FOV imaging for roadmap image reconstruction. Thus, multiple FOV images are displayed together, improving visualization of the interventional device placement.
