The invention relates to a dental material comprising a polymer resin, particulate fillers and randomly oriented inorganic fibres, wherein an average largest dimension of the particulate fillers is 0.3-1.2 μm, the inorganic fibres have a diameter of 4-8 micrometre and an aspect ratio of 20-80 based on an average length of the inorganic fibres and the dental material is void of other fibres. Additionally, the total amount of particulate fillers and inorganic fibres is 70-85 wt-% of the total weight of the material, and the amount of inorganic fibres is 20-35 wt-% of the total amount of particulate fillers and inorganic fibres.

Orthopedic implant

The present invention relates to a composite comprising a structural part, a porous part, and at least two interconnecting parts arranged at a distance from each other and extending from the structural part to the porous part, thus connecting them to each other. The implant is characterized in that each interconnecting part is in the form of a band having a length, a width and a height, the width and the height both being independently at most 20% of the length of the band, and in that at least one of the interconnecting parts is at least partially embedded into the structural and porous parts.

Composite and its use

The present invention relates to an implant comprising at least two layers made of fibers and bioactive material arranged between said at least two layers, the bioactive material being selected from the group consisting of bioactive glass, hydroxyapatite, tricalciumphosphate and mixtures thereof. In the implant, at least one of the layers is at least mainly formed of a mesh, which is made of glass fibers having a diameter of 3-100 &#x3bc;m, and wherein the mesh size is selected such that the bioactive material is retained within the implant. In addition, the layers are embedded in a matrix made of a resin selected from the group consisting of polyesters, epoxies, acrylates and mixtures thereof, and the layers are attached to each other along the contour of the implant.

The invention relates to a filler granule comprising a matrix component (), at least two base particles () that are at least mostly embedded in the matrix component, and a fibrous component (). The fibrous component is attached to at least one of the base particles. The invention also relates to uses of these filler granules as well as to composite materials containing them.

The present invention relates to an implant system comprising implantable material in at least partially uncured form, contained in a closed casing, under vacuum and sterilized, and a closed bag containing the casing. The prepreg is characterized in that it further comprises a surface part consisting essentially of bioactive filler material, said bioactive filler material being in particle form and at least partially and at most partially embedded in said base part. The invention also relates to a composite obtainable by curing said prepreg. The invention further relates to a mineralizing sheet for treatment of hypersensitive teeth and to the use of said prepreg and composite.

Prepreg and its use

The invention relates to polymerizable multifunctional polymer composites and compositions, which are suitable for dental and medical applications, such as dental prostheses, filling materials, implants and the like. It also relates to a method for the manufacture of such polymerizable multifunctional polymer composites and compositions, and to the use of the multifunctional polymer composites and compositions in dental and medical applications. A multifunctional polymer composite or composition is manufactured from 30-99 wt % of a monomer mixture containing 30-99 wt % of a dendrimer or a combination of dendrimers and 1-70 wt % of a reactive solvent or a combination of reactive solvents, and 0.1-70 wt % of a nanofiller or a combination of nanofillers.

The invention relates to a method and silicone product for shaping a fibre product used in dentistry to reinforce a prosthetic appliance or a similar structure under construction to conform to the final location. The fibre product containing fibres and curable material is pressed by means of silicone material against the final location or a model thereof followed by curing the curable material present in the fibre product. The invention is characterized in that the silicone material is a polymerised, elastic and soft silicone material that has been shaped to a piece () corresponding to the size and shape of the fibre product to be shaped, and that when pressed, the silicone material adopts the shape of the final location or the model thereof.
