There is provided a wearable device for measuring cardiac activity of a user, the wearable device comprising: an optical cardiac activity sensor unit configured to be placed in contact with a measurement area and to enable cardiac activity measurement of the user to obtain a cardiac activity signal; a plurality of electrodes configured to enable bioimpedance measurement on the measurement area to obtain a bioimpedance signal; a detector unit for detecting changes in the bioimpedance signal; and a reducer unit for reducing a motion artefact effect on the cardiac activity signal based on the detected changes in the bioimpedance signal.

Enhancing optical cardiac activity measurement

This document discloses a portable system comprising a physical activity monitoring device comprising: a wireless proximity detection module configured to detect a proximity of an input control entity with respect to the physical activity monitoring device and output a control signal as a response to the detection, wherein the proximity is a non-zero distance between the input control entity and the training computer; and a user interface controller configured to generate, as a response to the control signal from the wireless proximity detection module, at least one of an audio control function and a display control function.

A heart activity sensor structure includes a flexible substrate being substantially non-conductive, at least two electrodes printed on one side of the flexible substrate and configured to be placed against a skin of a user in order to measure biometric signals related to heart activity, and an electrostatic discharge shield printed on opposite side the flexible textile substrate, compared to the printing of the at least two electrodes, for protecting the at least two electrodes from static electricity.

Heart activity sensor structure

A heart activity sensor structure includes a flexible textile substrate, and at least two electrodes with an electric insulation between each of the at least two electrodes. The at least two electrodes are applied on one side of the flexible textile substrate and configured to be placed against a skin of an exerciser in order to measure biosignals related to heart activity. The heart activity sensor also includes an electrostatic discharge shield applied on one side of the flexible textile substrate for protecting the at least two electrodes from static electricity.

A solution for training guidance is provided. A method related to the solution includes acquiring, in a training guidance apparatus, cardiovascular data representing cardiovascular measurement on a user carrying out a physical exercise, wherein the acquired cardiovascular data is real-time data measured during the physical exercise. The method further includes determining exercise guidance attributes from the cardiovascular data with respect to at least one training target of the physical exercise, selecting a video clip matching with the guidance attributes, and causing display of the video clip to the user.

Method and apparatus for interfacing with a living object to obtain a biosignal measurement

A protective electrode structure comprises a middle protective electrode which resides between an outer protective electrode and the skin electrodes during a measurement. The middle protective electrode and the outer protective electrode are insulated from each other. Additionally, the middle protective electrode may be coupled to a virtual ground of the user-specific performance monitor system.

An electric circuitry for a portable electronic device is presented. A heart rate measuring device is attached around a user's hand, the device having an inner surface, which is in contact with the skin on the hand to which it is attached, and an outer surface, which is other than the inner surface. The inner surface of the measuring device is provided with an electrically conductive inner structure, which functions as an electrode for a contact with the skin of the hand to which the device is attached. An electrically conductive outer structure functions as an electrode for a contact with the user's other hand and it is electrically isolated from the electrically conductive inner structure. The electrically conductive outer structure on the measuring device extends at least to opposite sides of the hand to which the device is attached, and at least part of the electrically conductive outer surface is on the outer surface of the measuring device, on opposite sides of the hand to which the device is attached. The electrically conductive outer structure and inner structure are connected to a measuring unit for heart rate measurement.
