An arrangement for reducing the displacement of an elevator car caused by a change in loading includes at least an elevator car configured to move up and down in an elevator hoistway and one or more counterweights, and also at least one rope element above the elevator car and at least one rope element below the elevator car and at least one pretensioner of the rope elements. The elevator car and counterweight are configured to be supported and moved via the rope elements and the pretensioner and rope pulleys, of which rope pulleys the first part are diverting pulleys, and the second part are traction sheaves. The arrangement additionally includes at least two hoisting machines. In the arrangement is a mechanism configured to lock at least two rope pulleys to be non-rotating at least during loading of the elevator car.

Arrangement for reducing displacement of an elevator car caused by a change in loading

An elevator may include: a hoisting machine; a set of hoisting ropes; a traction sheave that comprises a plurality of grooves; and diverting pulleys. The hoisting machine may engage the set of ropes via the traction sheave. Each groove may have an opening for receiving an individual rope. Each rope may include steel wires of circular, non-circular, or circular and non-circular cross-section, twisted together to form strands. The strands of each rope may be twisted together to form the respective rope. A thickness of each rope may be greater than or equal to about 2.5 mm and less than or equal to about 8 mm. An average of wire thicknesses of the steel wires may be greater than or equal to 0.1 mm and less than or equal to 0.4 mm. The strength of the steel wires may be greater than 2,300 N/mmand less than 3,000 N/mm.

Elevator

An elevator may include: drive machine, hoisting ropes, traction sheave, elevator car, counterweight, and elevator car and counterweight guide rails. The drive machine may engage the hoisting ropes using the traction sheave. The hoisting ropes may support the elevator car on the elevator car guide rails and the counterweight on the counterweight guide rails. The hoisting ropes may include coated hoisting ropes of substantially circular cross-section. The hoisting ropes may have a load-bearing part twisted from steel wires of circular, non-circular, or circular and non-circular cross-section. A cross-sectional area of the steel wires may be less than about 0.2 mm. A strength of the steel wires may be greater than about 2000 N/mm. A core of each hoisting rope may include the load-bearing part. The core may be coated with a substantially thin sheath that forms a surface of the hoisting rope. The sheath may be softer than the core.

Elevator provided with a coated hoisting rope

An elevator may include: a hoisting machine; hoisting ropes; a traction sheave that includes grooves; a counterweight; an elevator car; counterweight guide rails; and elevator car guide rails. Each hoisting rope may include steel wires of circular, non-circular, or circular and non-circular cross-section, twisted together to form strands. The strands of each hoisting rope may be twisted together to form the hoisting rope. A thickness of each hoisting rope may be greater than or equal to 2.5 mm and less than or equal to 8 mm. Each hoisting rope individually may contact one of the grooves. A cross-sectional area of the steel wires may be greater than 0.015 mmand less than 0.2 mm. The strength of the steel wires may be greater than 2300 N/mmand less than 2700 N/mm.

Elevator and elevator rope

An elevator may include: a hoisting machine; hoisting ropes; a traction sheave that includes grooves; and diverting pulleys. Each of the hoisting ropes may individually contact one of the grooves. Each hoisting rope may include steel wires of circular, non-circular, or circular and non-circular cross-section, twisted together to form strands. The strands of each hoisting rope may be twisted together to form the hoisting rope. A thickness of each of the hoisting ropes may be greater than or equal to 2.5 mm and less than or equal to 8 mm. A cross-sectional area of the steel wires of the hoisting ropes may be greater than 0.015 mmand less than 0.2 mm. The strength of the steel wires may be greater than 2,700 N/mmand less than 3,000 N/mm.

Elevator with hoisting and governor ropes

An elevator may include an elevator car, a counterweight, a set of hoisting ropes, and one or more rope pulleys. The car and counterweight may be suspended on the hoisting ropes. At least one rope pulley may include a solid surface including a plurality of rope grooves configured to receive at least one hoisting rope. Each rope groove may generally conform to a semi-circular shape and may include a groove bottom and sides. The at least one rope pulley may include a coating adhesively bonded to it. The coating may directly contact the at least one hoisting rope. A coating thickness may be less than or equal to about 3 mm. At the groove bottom of each rope groove, the coating thickness may be substantially less than half a thickness of the at least one hoisting rope. The coating may cover the groove bottom and sides of each rope groove.

Elevator and traction sheave of an elevator

An arrangement for equalizing rope force of an elevator may include: a hoisting machine, set of hoisting ropes, traction sheave, elevator car, guide rails, and compensating device. The hoisting machine may engage the hoisting ropes via the traction sheave. The elevator car may be at least partially supported by the hoisting ropes to move the elevator car. The elevator car may move along the guide rails. The compensating device may include first and second tensioning devices. The first tensioning device may be spaced apart from the second tensioning device. The first and second tensioning devices may be interconnected via a transmission device that transmits rotary motion. A first end of the set of hoisting ropes may be secured to a point in conjunction with the first tensioning device. A second end of the set of hoisting ropes may be secured to a point in conjunction with the second tensioning device.

Arrangement for equalizing elevator rope force and elevator

An elevator may include an elevator car, counterweight, set of hoisting ropes, and one or more rope pulleys. The elevator car and counterweight may be suspended on the set of hoisting ropes. The one or more rope pulleys may be provided with one or more rope grooves. Each rope groove may have a groove bottom and groove sides. At least one rope pulley may have a coating adhesively bonded to it. At the groove bottom, a thickness of the coating may be at most about 3 mm. At the groove bottom, the thickness of the coating may be substantially less than half a thickness of the at least one hoisting rope running in the one or more rope grooves. At the groove sides, the thickness of the coating may be at most about 3 mm. The coating may be thicker at the groove bottom than at the groove sides.

An elevator without counterweight may Include an elevator car suspended by a hoisting rope, a traction sheave operatively connected to the elevator car by the hoisting rope, and a brake structure configured to engage with the traction sheave in a braking operation in an upward motion and a downward motion of the elevator car. The brake structure may include first and second brake elements. The first brake element may include a surface engageable with the traction sheave, and first contact and sliding surfaces. The second brake element may include second contact and sliding surfaces. The first sliding surface may slide along the second sliding surface relative to the second brake element when the elevator car moves with the upward motion. The second contact surface may contact the first contact surface to stop a sliding motion of the first brake element when the elevator car moves with the downward motion.
