According to an aspect, there is provided an energy storage system for an elevator car of an elevator system, comprising an energy storage; an energy storage management system connected to the energy storage and configured to monitor a state of the energy storage. The energy storage management system is configured to communicate directly with a charging arrangement located in an elevator shaft via a first communication channel to start and stop charging of the energy storage via the charging arrangement. The energy storage management system is further configured to communicate with an elevator controller associated with the elevator car via a second communication channel.

Energy storage system for an elevator car, and a method and an apparatus for monitoring the energy storage system

A method of monitors a climate quality within a building having an elevator running between floors of an elevator hoistway. The elevator car of the elevator includes at least an air-quality sensor. The method is characterized in that a fan of the elevator car is running when the door(s) of the car is/are opening at a floor station to suck air from the building's floor level into the elevator car to the vicinity of the air-quality sensor and sensing the air-quality by the sensor preceding to generating data of the air-quality.

The wireless power transfer arrangement comprises primary winding units distantly arranged with respect to each other at first positions of an elevator shaft along which the elevator car is configured to be moved, at least one secondary winding unit arranged to the elevator car. Each one of the primary winding units and the at least one secondary winding unit are arranged so that there is a gap between said winding units for enabling movement of the secondary winding unit with respect to the primary winding units and for establishing an inductive coupling between said winding units whenever said winding units are arranged to face each other at one of the first positions.

The method comprises obtaining first data on available time-dependent power consumption flexibility capacity from each passenger transport installation; obtaining second data from at least one external data source, the second data being independent from operation of the passenger transport installations; determining an activation order for power demand management of the plurality of passenger transport installations based on the obtained first data and second data; and transmitting a passenger transport installation specific activation signal for the power demand management to at least one passenger transport installation of the plurality of passenger transport installations in accordance with the activation order.
