A radio channel generator has a radio channel model predistorted on the basis of a predetermined chamber model. An emulator receives the weights of the radio channel model predistorted on the basis of the chamber model. A transmitter feeds a communication signal to the emulator. The emulator weights the communication signal with the radio channel model predistorted on the basis of the chamber model. The over-the-air antennas receive the weighted communication signal and transmit it to a device under test. The chamber model is based on a simulation or a measurement. The chamber model takes into account undesired interactions in the over-the-air chamber for cancelling them during the radio channel emulation.

Over-the air test

An apparatus forms a weight for each signal path associated with an antenna of a plurality of antennas around a test zone in an over-the-air chamber by a comparison of a desired target electric field based on a radio channel model and an electric field obtainable by the plane waves associated with the test zone, the plane waves being transmittable by the antennas and being based on at least one basis waveform in each signal path.

Over-the-air test

An emulating system of an over-the-air test comprises a radio channel emulator, a selector, a connector and a plurality of antenna elements placed around a test spot for an electronic device under test. The selector receives data on a simulated radio channel from the radio channel emulator and selects a subset of a plurality of positions of antenna elements on the basis of the data. The connector connects only the antenna elements in the subset and the radio channel emulator for physically realizing the simulated radio channel.

An apparatus comprises a receiver receiving wireless transmission of a real radio system from at least one base station of a radio system as a function of reception direction. The transmission comprises predetermined data. The apparatus comprises also a processing unit that forms taps of a delay profile on the basis of comparison between the data that is received and corresponding predetermined data. The processing unit estimates direction for the taps of the delay profile on the basis of a reception direction of the transmission, and forms radio channel data by associating the taps of the delay profile with the estimated direction. The radio channel data is for a radio channel model of a MIMO emulation in an OTA chamber having a plurality of antennas around a test zone where a device-under-test may be placed.

Radio channel data and the use thereof

A testing system comprises a noise source coupled to at least two antenna elements. The noise source forms a total noise power on the basis of a total signal power received by the emulator, a gain of at least one antenna-specific channel between the emulator and the antenna elements, and a desired signal-to-noise ratio. The noise source transmits noise at the total noise power from the at least two antenna elements to the device under test wirelessly.

A simulated radio channel is shifted with respect to a plurality of antenna elements coupled with an emulator for communicating with a device under test by using different directions for the simulated radio channel in an anechoic chamber.

Disclosed is a method and a device for estimating the signal to interference ratio of a signal, in particular in a base station of a WCDMA system, providing at least a first estimating process and a second estimating process, wherein for current use with the signal a selection among said estimating processes is made in accordance with a current characteristic or current characteristics of the signal so that an estimating process is selected which is most suitable in view of the current characteristic(s) of the signal.

Method and device for estimating SIR of a signal

Method and system for generating higher order modulations with QPSK modulators. A complex sequence of binary digits is input to QPSK modulators. The binary digits are mapped to constellation points and multiplied with weighting coefficient. Constellation points of higher order modulation are mapped to inputs of the QPSK modulator, and, after modulation QPSK symbols are summed to compose symbols of higher order modulation.

At least one radio channel is measured and stored. At least one simulation is performed with the at least one radio channel stored.

Radio channel simulation

Bit error rate or bit error probability of a received signal of a wireless telecommunication system is estimated, wherein a channel impulse response is estimated from the received signal, and the received signal is subjected to a channel equalizing operation performed on the basis of time statistics derived from the channel impulse response. Additionally, adaptive reference time domain characteristics are calculated from a weighting information obtained from the channel impulse response estimation that may be used to perform a reference channel equalizing operation for obtaining an additional output signal to be compared with the output signal of the channel equalizing operation so as to determine an estimation of the bit error rate based on the detected difference.
