A multiplexer with excellent electrical properties and a low number of electrical components is provided that may be used in a communication device with two TX paths and two RX paths. The multiplexer comprises three hybrids and two duplexers. Further, a mobile communication device comprising such a multiplexer is provided.

A circuit arrangement includes a transceiver unit, a switching device coupled to the transceiver unit with a terminal and a control device coupled to the switching device. The control device is configured to operate in a first and in a second mode of operation. In the first mode of operation, the switching device is configured by the control device such that a first signal is routed from the transceiver unit via the switching device back to the transceiver unit in a feedback loop. In the second mode of operation, the switching device is configured by the control device such that a second signal is routed from the transceiver unit via the switching device to the terminal or the second signal is routed from the terminal via the switching device to the transceiver unit.

Circuit arrangement for RF loopback

A front-end circuit for a wireless communication unit includes at least two antenna feeds. At least one of the antennas is coupled to an antenna switch. The circuit comprises filters and duplexers and is prepared to operate a number of FDD frequency bands. Each FDD band comprises an Rx band for receive signals and a Tx band for transmit signals. The circuit provides a single band operation mode for each frequency band and aggregated band operation modes. In an aggregated band operation mode Rx signals can be received in two different frequency bands at the same time as well as Tx signals can be transmitted in at least one of the two different frequency bands. In addition, TDD bands as well as GSM bands are covered.

Front-end circuit for band aggregation modes

An antenna and RF front-end arrangement include at least one LTE or WCDMA Tx&Rx antenna, one MIMO Rx or diversity antenna adapted for low band LTE or WCDMA and one MIMO Rx or diversity antenna adapted for high band LTE or WCDMA. At least one of the MIMO Rx or diversity antennas is adapted for transmitting and receiving WLAN and/or BlueTooth signals. Therefore, a dedicated WLAN antenna is not required and the number of antennas can be reduced.

The present invention concerns a mobile communication device comprising a ground plane, a main antenna comprising a main radiator (MRAD) that can couple electromagnetically to the ground plane and to a first signal path (SPm), a diversity antenna comprising a diversity radiator (DRAD), a reconfigurable input matching circuit that couples the diversity radiator (DRAD) to the ground plane and to a second signal path (SPd), and a control unit (CU) coupled to the reconfigurable input matching circuit and adapted to change the coupling of the diversity radiator (DRAD) to the ground plane during operation. The present invention further concerns to a method to enhance the performance of the device.

Mobile communication device with improved antenna performance

A wireless communication device (WCD) having improved tuning abilities is provided. The device comprises an absorption element (AE) connected to an additional antenna (MIMOA). RF power coupled from a main antenna (MA) into the additional antenna (MIMOA) is absorbed instead of being re-emitted into the main antenna (MA) and disturbing measurement of the reflected power level.

The present invention concerns a front-end circuit (FEC) that is connectable to at least two radiators (RADM, RADD), wherein the front-end circuit (FEC) comprises sub-circuits (SC) and each sub-circuit (SC) is associated to one radiator (RADM, RADD). In an RF antenna having a planar radiating element disposed adjacent to a ground plane, one or more metasolenoids are disposed between the radiating element and the ground plane. As such, the magnetic flux through the metasolenoids interacts with the radiating element and the ground plane, widening the bandwidth of the antenna. Each of the metasolenoid comprises a stack of split-ring resonators co-axially aligned. The gap in each split-ring resonator is oriented differently from the gap in the adjacent split-ring resonator. The use of metasolenoids disposed between the radiating element and the ground plane does not increase the volume of the radiating element.
