A method and system are provided for scheduling data transmission in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. The MIMO system may comprise at least one MIMO transmitter and at least one MIMO receiver. Feedback from one or more receivers may be used by a transmitter to improve quality, capacity, and scheduling in MIMO communication systems. The method may include generating or receiving information pertaining to a MIMO channel metric and information pertaining to a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) in respect of a transmitted signal; and sending a next transmission to a receiver using a MIMO mode selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the MIMO channel metric, and an adaptive coding and modulation selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the CQI.

Methods and systems for physical layer network coding based on two-dimensional (2D) joint coding are described. In some methods, first and second packets are obtained. A set of one or more cross-packet check blocks is generated, where each cross-packet check block is generated based on a set of cross-packet bits including at least one bit from each of the first and second packets. At least one cross-packet check block is transmitted to a first communication node.

The present disclosure relates to uplink cooperative multi-User Equipment (UE) cooperative transmission such as Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) transmission. Source data of a source UE that is to be transmitted via uplink cooperative transmission by multiple UEs, is transmitted to at least one cooperative UE over an SL. The source data is associated with an identifier for identifying the UE to the network equipment as a source of the source data. The multiple UEs transmit the source data and the identifier in an uplink direction to the network equipment. The network equipment receives the source data from the multiple UEs in a cooperative transmission such as cooperative MIMO transmission, and obtains the identifier for identifying the source UE as the source of the source data.

Current frame structures in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and New Radio (NR) place some restrictions on the symbols transmitted in the frame, e.g. restrictions related to the duration of each symbol. Embodiments are disclosed in which multi-carrier symbols and/or single-carrier symbol blocks have configurable parameters, such as configurable length and/or configurable location, thereby allowing for more flexibility in the scheduling and transmission of the symbols and/or symbol blocks. Some embodiments aim to implement the configurable parameters in a way that tries to reduce signaling overhead.

Systems and methods for configuring symbol and symbol block parameters in wireless communication

The present disclosure relates, in part, to non-terrestrial communication systems, and in some embodiments to the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication systems. Non-terrestrial communication systems can provide a more flexible communication system with extended wireless coverage range and enhanced service quality compared to conventional communication systems. A method representative of aspects of the present application includes receiving, by an apparatus connected in a first sub-system, from a radio access network, configuration information for performing a channel condition measurement on a second sub-system, reporting, by the apparatus to the radio access network, channel condition measurement of a downlink reference signal received from the second sub-system, transmitting, by the apparatus, a wireless transmission to the second sub-system responsive to the channel condition measurement meeting a predefined condition.

System and method for downlink channel sounding in wireless communications systems

Current frame structures in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and New Radio (NR) are not designed to accommodate full duplex (FD) communication. Embodiments are disclosed in which frame structures are provided that support FD communication and frequency division duplex (FDD) communication and time division duplex (TDD) communication. In some embodiments, there is defined two separate and independent frame structures: a frame structure for reception (e.g. a downlink frame structure) and a frame structure for transmission (e.g. an uplink frame structure).

Frame structures for wireless communication

Methods and systems are provided for allocating resources including VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) and Non-VoIP resources. In some embodiments, multiplexing schemes are provided for use with OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access) systems, for example for use in transmitting VoIP traffic. Current radio frame structures in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and New Radio (NR) have some restrictions. A frame structure is disclosed herein that aims to provide more flexibility. Embodiments of the flexible frame structure include different parameters that are flexible, i.e. that are configurable. A non-exhaustive list of parameters that may be configurable include: length of the frame; length of a subframe (if a subframe is even defined); length of a slot and/or number of symbol blocks in a slot (if a slot is even defined); length of the CP and/or data portion in a symbol block, or ratio of CP to data portion, which may vary between symbol blocks; downlink/uplink switching gap length, etc.

Flexible frame structure for wireless communication

Physical layer structures and access schemes for use in such networks are described and in particular initial access channel (IACH) structures are proposed. A spectrum efficient downlink (DL) IACH design supports different types of User Equipment (UE) capabilities and different system bandwidths. An IACH includes the synchronization channel (SCH) and broadcast-control channel (BCH). A non-uniform SCH for all system bandwidths is provided, as well as scalable bandwidth BCH depending on system bandwidth. An initial access procedure is provided, as well as an access procedure.

Embodiments of the invention describe a novel solution to enhance network service to devices with limited or no connectivity. Apparatus and method for providing enhanced wireless coverage, improved service performance, and reduced battery power consumption

The present disclosure relates, in part, to non-terrestrial communication systems, and in some embodiments to the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication systems. Non-terrestrial communication systems can provide a more flexible communication system with extended wireless coverage range and enhanced service quality compared to conventional communication systems.

System and method embodiments are provided for enabling flexible and reliable UE-to-UE based relay. The embodiments include using fountain codes for combining signals at a suitable network layer higher than a media access control (MAC) sub-layer and using a MAC sub-layer hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission scheme. When a relay UE in a UE group for joint reception receives, from a network access point, a data packet intended for a destination UE in the UE group and including fountain code at the higher network layer, the relay UE sends the data packet to the destination UE and returns a HARQ ACK message at the MAC sub-layer to the access point. The destination UE then receives and decodes the data packet. Subsequently, upon receiving the entire data, the destination UE sends an ACK message at the higher network layer to the access point.
