A biological cathode and biological battery system for converting carbon feedstock into organic chemicals and producing electrical current is described. The method involves a biological battery system comprising of a reaction vessel and biological cathode electrode. The organic chemicals are processed in a space having at least one anode and at least one cathode with cathode electrode having biologically active material adjacent to at least one layer of the cathode electrode. The material can be a gel, liquid, or solid. This system can be carried out to process organic waste in an environmentally friendly manner.

Biological battery and biological cathode electrode

A system and method of detecting a sobriety of a subject utilizing a mobile device. The mobile device includes a processor and a memory storing historical data including movements indicating a drunk state, movements indicating a sober state, or a combination of both. The mobile device further includes a user interface, a recorder operable to capture a recording, and an accelerometer operable to generate acceleration values of movements of the recording. When the mobile device captures the recording of a subject performing movements, the processor compares the data on the memory with the acceleration values of the movements of the subject and produces an indication of either a drunk state of the subject or a sober state of the subject on the user interface.

System and method of determining sobriety levels

Biological material is used to build up biological cathode electrodes (biological cathode) and biological batteries, particularly biological metal air batteries as well as biological flow battery. A biological battery system includes a reaction vessel, a medium, a conductive anode and a biological cathode electrode. The biological cathode has a conductive support layer, a polymeric binding layer disposed between the conductive support layer and a contact layer. The contact layer being configured to be in electrical contact with biological components in the medium or being deposited with biological components. When the reaction vessel is open to an ambient air, the biological components accept electrons from the cathode.

Biological battery and biological cathode

This invention introduces an indoor person identification system that utilizes the capture and analysis of footstep induced structural vibrations. The system senses floor vibration and detects the signal induced by footsteps. Then the system then extracts features from the signal that represent characteristics of each person's unique gait pattern. With these extracted features, the system conducts hierarchical classification at an individual step level and at a collection of consecutive steps level, achieving high degree of accuracy in the identification of individuals.

Indoor identification of individuals through footstep induced structural vibration

The present invention provides a microbial genomic analysis tool, named Spatial Analytical Microbial Imaging (SAMI), which provides the spatiotemporal and comparative intracellular ploidy, indicating the relative growth rate of the cells in situ. Firstly, pure cultures of two microbial species were pre-evaluated for their validity using SAMI. Secondly, the same pure cultures were split aliquot to pure culture and mixed culture, and grown concurrently to reduce error. Another set of pure culture can also be grown as a standard to evaluate inferential comparative genomic copy number if necessary. Thirdly, the genomes of individual cells in the pure culture and the mixed culture are stained with membrane permeable fluorescent DNA markers and analyzed by confocal laser scan microscopy and an image software. The average fluorescent intensity (AFI) and the total genomic fluorescent biding area (GFA) of slow growth pure cultures indicate the population AFI and GFA using inferential statistics. They are used as standards in comparison with the results of the mixed culture to specify the genera, 3D locus and the inferential comparative genomic copy number or a different category of each cell. Fourth, the final results are presented in 3D.

A muscle activity and skeletal monitoring system and method are disclosed. A network of at least two distributed inertial sensor nodes are configured to communicate with each other over a first interface. Each of the inertial sensor nodes comprises at least one sensor configured to sense muscle vibrations and monitor body motion. A muscle activity recognition and motion tracking and visualization methods also are disclosed.
