Embodiments of the invention provide telecommunications methods that facilitate sharing of spreading codes. According to one of the embodiments, a first telecommunications apparatus first selects a plurality of second telecommunications apparatuses to share at least one spreading code. Then, the first telecommunications apparatus uses each of the at least one spreading code to perform spreading operations for the second telecommunications apparatuses by turns repetitively.

Telecommunications methods facilitating sharing of spreading codes

A method for compensating the frequency dependent phase imbalance in a receiver is provided. The receiver downconverts an input signal to generate the signal r(t). The signal r(t) has an in-phase component r(t) and a quadrature component r(t). A first test signal with a first carrier frequency is applied as the input signal of the receiver to obtain a first phase imbalance I. A second test signal with a second carrier frequency is applying as the input signal of the receiver to obtain a second phase imbalance. An IQ delay mismatch &#x394;t of the receiver according to the difference of the second and the first phase imbalances and the difference of the second and the first carrier frequencies is obtained. The in-phase component r(t) and the quadrature component r(t) of the signal r(t) corresponding to other input signal is compensated according to the obtained IQ delay mismatch &#x394;t.

Method for compensating the frequency dependent phase imbalance

An embodiment of the invention provides a telecommunications method to be performed by a first telecommunications device while trying to transmit a data block to a second telecommunications device. According to the embodiment, the first telecommunications device determines whether a first set of early termination criteria is satisfied. Then, if the first set of early termination criteria is satisfied, the first telecommunications device further determines whether a second set of early termination criteria is satisfied. The second set of early termination criteria is different from the first set of early termination criteria. If both the first set of early termination criteria and the second set of early termination criteria are satisfied before the first telecommunications device finishes transmitting the data block, the first telecommunications device reduces a transmission power.

Telecommunications methods for increasing reliability of early termination of transmission

A method for compensating the frequency dependent phase imbalance in a transmitter is provided. The transmitter processes a baseband signal. The method includes the following steps: (a) compensating the baseband signal with a predetermined delay amounts; (b) inputting the compensated baseband signal to an upconversion circuit to generate a radio frequency (RF) signal; (c) inputting the RF signal to a delay information extractor to obtain a correlation value related to the information of the predetermined delay amount; (d) changing the predetermined delay amount and compensating the baseband signal again with the changed predetermined delay amount, and performing steps (b) and (c) again to update the correlation value; and (e) selecting a candidate delay amount from the predetermined delay amount according to the correlation value, and compensating the transmitter by using the candidate delay amount.

The present invention provides a method and associated apparatus providing a signal metric for a transmitter of a communication system including: accumulating a plurality of power terms, each power term corresponding to a product of one of symbol amplitudes and one of scaling factors; and calculating the signal metric according to the accumulated power terms.

Method and apparatus providing signal metric for transmitter

An embodiment of the invention provides a telecommunications method performed by a second telecommunications device. According to the embodiment, the second telecommunications device first tries to use a received part of a data block to decode the data block, wherein the received part is received from a first telecommunications device. Next, the second telecommunications device determines whether a code metric derived based on the received part indicates that the data block is decodable. If the code metric indicates that the data block is decodable, the second telecommunications device further determines whether a set of confirmation criteria is satisfied.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) of a communication system, including: detecting a first measurement reflecting a first communication quality of the communication system, providing first reference(s) respectively corresponding to indicator level(s), providing CQI according to the indicator level(s) and a relation between the first measurement and the first reference(s), and updating one (or more) first reference according to a second measurement reflecting a second communication quality of the communication system. For example, the first measurement can represent signal to interference ratio or mutual information, and the second measurement can represent data error rate or throughput. First reference(s) can be further adjusted according to a third measurement, e.g., a power scheduling of base station, such that CQI can be updated if base station schedules additional transmission power.

Method and apparatus reporting channel quality indicator of communication system

The present invention provides a method and apparatus reporting a channel quality indicator of a communication system, including: detecting a first measurement reflecting a first communication quality of the communication system; providing a series of thresholds and mapping functions, each mapping functions in association with a bin defined by two adjacent thresholds, so the first measurement is mapped to the channel quality indicator by the mapping function in association with the bin which matches the first measurement; and updating at least one of the thresholds according to a second measurement which reflects a second communication quality of the communication system.

Integrated circuits, communication units and methods of cancellation of intermodulation distortion

A wireless communication unit includes a transmitter for processing a baseband transmit signal to produce a first radio frequency signal. A receiver is arranged to convert a second radio frequency signal to a baseband receive signal, where the receiver has a summation module arranged to add a cancellation signal to the baseband receive signal. A selectivity element is arranged to couple the transmitter and the receiver to an antenna, where a reduced portion of the first radio frequency signal is introduced into the second radio frequency signal thereby creating a second order inter-modulation distortion component in the baseband receive signal. An adaptive estimator module has a filter for filtering the baseband receive signal to remove dc offsets associated with the second order inter-modulation distortion component and generate the cancellation signal based on the baseband transmit signal and the filtered baseband receive signal for inputting to the summation module.

A method of operating a receiver to determine a bad frame indication (BFI) of a received speech block includes decoding speech information bits of the received speech block; re-encoding the decoded speech information bits; comparing the received speech information bits with the corresponding decoded and re-encoded speech information bits to calculate a number of erroneous bits; determining a mode information of the received speech block; calculating a signal quality measurement of the received speech block; calculating a block quality metric according to the mode information, wherein the block quality metric is related to both the number of erroneous bits and the signal quality measurement; and setting the BFI of the received speech block according to the block quality metric.
