A ZVS (zero voltage switching) control circuit for use in a flyback power converter includes a primary side controller circuit, a secondary side controller circuit, and a pulse transformer. In one switching cycle, a synchronous rectifier transistor is turned ON twice to generate a circulation current at the primary side winding, and after the synchronous rectifier transistor is turned OFF, the power transistor is turned ON for zero voltage switching. A synchronous signal coupled between the primary side and the secondary side is employed to synchronize the power transistor and the synchronous transistor. The synchronous signal also triggers an SR-ZVS pulse to turn ON the synchronous rectifier transistor for achieving the zero voltage switching when the power transistor is turned ON.

ZVS control circuit for use in a flyback power converter

The present invention provides a power switch control circuit and an open detection method thereof. The power switch control circuit is for generating an operation signal at an operation signal output pin according to an input signal, wherein the operation signal is for operating a power switch. The power switch control circuit includes: a current injection circuit, which is connected to the operation signal output pin, and provides a predetermined current to the operation signal output pin according to an enable signal; and an open detection circuit, which is coupled to the current injection circuit, and determines whether a connection between the operation signal output pin and the power switch is open according to a level of the operation signal output pin at a detection time point or according to a level variation of the operation signal output pin during a detection time period, whereby an open detection signal is generated.

Power switch control circuit and open detection method thereof

The present invention discloses an input/output (I/O) signal processing circuit and processing method. The I/O signal processing circuit includes a level adjustable I/O circuit and an adjustment circuit. The I/O signal processing circuit includes an output driver and/or an input comparator. The output driver transmits an output signal via a signal transmission line according to an output data. The output driver has an adjustable high operation voltage level and an adjustable low operation voltage level, which determine a high level and a low level of the output signal, respectively. The input comparator receives an input signal via the signal transmission line and comparing the input signal with an adjustable reference voltage, so as to generate an input data. The adjustment circuit generates an adjustment signal according to voltage drop related information, to correspondingly adjust the adjustable high and low operation voltage level and/or the adjustable reference voltage.

Input/output signal processing circuit and input/output signal processing method

Method and apparatus for controlling a programmable power converter are provided. The method and apparatus generate a first power source and a second power source. The voltage level of the second power source is lower than the voltage level of the first power source. The first power source and the second power source provide a power supply for a control circuit. The control circuit will use the first power source as its power supply when the first power source is low. The control circuit will use the second power source as its power supply for saving the power when the first power source is high.

Method and apparatus for controlling programmable power converter with low standby power loss

An angle detection apparatus for a rotor of a motor includes a period counter, a step period generator, and an angle generator. The period counter receives a rotor sensing signal, and calculates a plurality of time ranges of a plurality of pulses of the rotor sensing signal. The step period generator generates a ratio value and an error signal according to an average time range value of the time ranges and a set value. The step period generator further adjusts the ratio value according to the error signal, and generates a step time according to the adjusted ratio value and the average time range value. The angle generator receives the step time and the rotor sensing signal, and obtains an angle detection result according to the rotor sensing signal and the step time.

Angle detection apparatus and method for rotor of motor

A speed-control circuit for a BLDC motor is provided. The speed-control circuit includes a pulse generator, a current source circuit, a filter circuit, an error amplification circuit and a PWM circuit. The pulse generator detects a speed signal of the BLDC motor to generate a pulse signal. The filter circuit is coupled to the current source circuit to generate an average signal. The error amplification circuit receives the average signal and a speed-reference signal for generating a speed-control signal. The PWM circuit generates a switching signal to drive the BLDC motor in response to the speed-control signal. A pulse width of the switching signal is determined by the speed-control signal.

Constant-speed control circuit for BLDC motors

A synchronous rectifier circuit of a switching power converter is provided and includes first and second power transistors and first and second diodes connected to a transformer and an output of the power converter for rectifying. An arbiter circuit generates a lock signal to prevent the second power transistor from being turned on when the first power transistor is turned on. A controller generates a drive signal to control the first power transistor according to an on signal and an off signal. A phase-lock circuit generates the off signal according to the on signal. The on signal is enabled once the first diode is forward biased. The one signal enables the drive signal for turning on the first power transistor. The off signal disables the drive signal for turning off the first power transistor. The off signal is enabled before the disabling of the on signal.

Offline synchronous rectifier circuit with turned-on arbiter and phase-lock for switching power converters

A BLDC (brushless direct current) motor system of the present invention includes a control circuit, a sequencer, a driving circuit, and a BLDC motor. The control circuit determines the maximum torque and the maximum speed of the BLDC motor. The control circuit includes an over-current detection circuit to generate a reset signal in response to a switching current of the BLDC motor. The reset signal is generated when the switching current of the BLDC motor exceeds a threshold. A pulse width of the PWM signal is correlated to the level of a speed-control signal and the level of the torque-control signal. The pulse width of the PWM signal is also controlled by the reset signal generated by the over-current detection circuit.

Control circuit for BLDC motors

A BLDC (brushless direct current) motor system of the present invention includes a control circuit, a sequencer, a driving circuit, and a BLDC motor. The control circuit comprises a speed-feedback loop and a torque-feedback loop to control the maximum speed and the maximum torque of the BLDC motor in parallel configuration. The speed-feedback loop generates a speed-control signal. The torque-feedback loop generates a torque-control signal. A PWM circuit receives the speed-control signal and the torque-control signal to generate a PWM signal. A pulse width of the PWM signal is correlated to the level of the speed-control signal and/or the level of the torque-control signal.

Control circuit with dual programmable feedback loops for BLDC motors

A floating driving circuit according to the present invention comprises an input circuit to receive an input signal. A latch circuit receives a trigger signal for generating a latch signal. The latch signal is used to turn on/off a switch. A coupling capacitor is connected between the input circuit and the latch circuit to generate the trigger signal in response to the input signal. A diode is connected from a voltage source to a floating supply terminal of the latch circuit for charging a capacitor. The capacitor is coupled between the floating supply terminal and a floating ground terminal of the latch circuit to provide a supply voltage to the latch circuit. The latch circuit is controlled by the input signal via the coupling capacitor.

Floating driving circuit

A control circuit for soft switching and synchronous rectifying is provided for power converter. A switching-signal circuit is used for generating drive signals and a pulse signal in response to a leading edge and a trailing edge of a switching signal. The switching signal is developed for regulating the power converter. Drive signals are coupled to switch the power transformer. A propagation delay is developed between drive signals to achieve soft switching of the power converter. An isolation device is coupled to transfer the pulse signal from a primary side of a power transformer to a secondary side of the power transformer. A controller of the integrated synchronous rectifier is coupled to the secondary side of the power transformer for the rectifying operation. The controller is operated to receive the pulse signal for switching on/off the power transistor. The pulse signal is to set or reset a latch circuit of the controller for controlling the power transistor.

Control circuit for synchronous rectifying and soft switching of power converters

The present invention provides a switching control circuit having a valley voltage detector to achieve the soft switching and improve the efficiency of a power converter. The switching control circuit includes a control circuit coupled to the feedback signal to generate a switching signal. Through an output circuit, the switching signal drives a switching device for switching a transformer and regulating the output of the power converter. The valley voltage detector is coupled to an auxiliary winding of the transformer for generating a control signal in response to the voltage of the transformer. The control signal is used for enabling the switching signal. The switching signal further turns on the switching device in response to a valley voltage across the switching device.

Switching control circuit having a valley voltage detector to achieve soft switching for a resonant power converter

A switching control circuit having detection terminal, input terminal, ramp generator, program terminal, error amplifier, mix circuit, and delay circuit for power factor control is provided. The detection terminal generates a detection signal in response to the inductor discharge. An input terminal is connected for detecting a switching current signal. The program terminal determines the slew rate of the ramp signal and the maximum on-time of the switching signal. An error amplifier generates an error signal for regulating the output. A mix circuit generates a mixing signal proportional to ramp signal and the switching current signal. The switching signal is turned on in response to the detection signal, and is turned off based on the error signal. The slew rate of the mixing signal is increased in response to the increase of the input voltage. The on-time of the switching signal is increased inversely proportional to the input voltage.
